Dumb question maybe, but will an AR-10 (.308) upper fit an AR-15 (.223) lower?

I would think no, but if yes, then that narrows what I would need to buy.

I don't know. I wonder though, even if it does, how will you get your .308 mags into a .223 magwell?

Not a dumb question, but no it won't.

I could probably dig up some pictures of my mine to show you the difference.

The ar-10 lower allows for larger caliber uppers that the the ar-15 lower cannot, not just the .308. You can get uppers or whole ar-10 rifles in 243 Win, 260Rem, 7mm-08, 284Win, 308Win "Match", 35Rem, 300Savage, 257Roberts, 358Win. 270WSM, 7mmWSM, 300WSM, 325WSM, 338WSM, & 450Marlin.
