I am looking for a back-up bolt for my Colt carbine. Anyone had a chance to try one of these yet? The price looks good, but I haven't heard of the company. 9310 steel bolts...http://www.tacticalambush.com/AR-15-762X39-MPI-Bolt-By-Tactical-Ambush_p_141.html

I also have been looking at the LGW bolt for $150 (yikes). These are made from aircraft stainless and the manufacturer claims 10,000+ rounds of Russian steel ammo http://shop.libertygunworksinc.com/762X39mm-Improved-bolt-LG762B.htm

I talked with another manufacturer out of Tennessee who claimed his bolts would get 10,000 rounds, but he no longer makes them due to poor sales. He also said that stainless won't work well in an AR bolt. He recommended just getting the Model 1 version and replacing it every 5000 rounds.

Anyone have experience with 9310 bolts from Tactical Ambush or stainless bolts in general?

Thx

Well, i'd step it up and get this one from them for 20 more bucks, because it has a lifetime guarantee.

I've had two M1S bolts lose lugs; one inside the first 100rds, and the other somewhere between 1500-2000rds.

I have a Tactical Ambush bolt in my 9mm AR. Not really the same, but that bolt is doing well.

What is a lifetime warranty worth when most businesses fail in a few years? Warranties are like collecting on insurance policies.

I was hoping to get some clear direction regarding AR bolt material, but after reading various discussions on the merits of 9310, 9310 alloy, and Carpenter 158 steel from industry manufacturers it's still not clear.

I may have to end up getting both the 9310 steel and the super bolt and give them a run.

Wish me luck.

M1key, did you ever place an order?

I did; on may 6th, and haven't heard a peep from them since. I emailed to follow up just now to their address on the receipt i got when i placed my order, and it bounced back...

/not cool.

ETA: just clicked the link - 404 error now.

So that lifetime warranty was reaaaallly short.

Time to call my CC and make sure they didn't bill me....
