Afetr discovering building a lower receiver from parts was a snap....I ordered a stripped upper and barrel kit from Del-Ton. I've been studying the assembly page on AR-15.Com on how to put it together. From what I can gather if the "barrel extension" (not a 100% sure I know what this is yet) is already on the barrel the headspacing shouldn't be an issue, just tighten the barrel nut and go. Is this the case here?

Also, is there a prescribed method for installing the A-2 flash hider to make it line up correctly, or just tighten until it's right? (is that why it's called a crush washer?)

While AR-15.Com is very informative I'm not yet a member over there and apparently cannot search for these answers, so any help or links would be appreciated.

Thanks :D

The barrel extension should already be installed on the barrel. You just use the alignment notch to align the barrel in the upper receiver and then tighten the barrel nut over that to 35-80lbs. A commonly used method for those with no torque wrench is to snug up the barrel nut handtight and then use the wrench to move the barrel nut over another notch where the gas tube can go through.

There is lots of good information on this in the AR15.com/AR15/Build Your Own section. FALARAK has done some excellent tutorials with pictures.

Put the crush washer with the smaller end up (otherwise your flashhider wrench will hit the washer when you try to tighten it). Screw the A2 flashhider on with your hand until it is snug. Now take the wrench and make about one revolution, align the top middle slot of the five slots with the front sight base. You're done. The washer will crush down so that the flashhider is aligned properly.
