Hello THR, I'm wondering who here thinks they paid the least for their affordable AR-15, not the bells and whistles kind of AR or your favorite baby of the bunch.

I've heard and read stories from people getting the best value from assembling their own AR-15s or CMMG bargain bins, Del-ton, what have you.

Please provide Brand name--even if yours is a hybrid/self-assembled-- and how much it cost for the complete rifle (also mention shipping as part of total or not). :D

For me, it was a CMMG Bargain Bin-- for $648 delivered (with the $25 hand picked fee).

It is an 18", 1/7" Government profile w/M4 upper (?) and a Double Star lower-- plain jane collapsible stock, Tango down grip, but little else "fancy"-- It works like a charm, and is pretty accurate, even with the Cheapo "match" UTG rear sight I picked up for $20 so I could get to the range with it...

Added a cheap Pro mag butt pad ($5 at Academy) and a CAA stck saddle ($15ish on Amazon I think) and the UTG rear sight was $20-$23 on Amazon too...the stock w/saddle, and butt pad will stay..once I save enough for optics, the UT will go and be replaced with some other rear iron...I just am building my Plumcrazy lower/Blackthorn upper .22lr right now, so now free cash..

$620 for mine before I started playing with it. That includes shipping and transfer fees. Del-ton rifle kit on a spike's lower.

My AR10, I have almost 2k in it. How was that so affordably inexpensive?
Well my wife was all for it so there were no residual backlashes on her end that can be expensive in more ways than one!

i helped a college kid build a new one for $525 about 3 yrs ago.

i bought four 'blemished' colt uppers at camp perry for $50 ea, so if i wanted to put together a super cheap build, i could. i'll use them for a more practical project though

I picked up a brand new Bushmaster ORC at a gun show in Concord a few years ago for about $800.00
At the time it was the best deal going. Now I've poured a few hundred into it to bring it up to about $1,600 (guesstimate)
Magpul MIAD hand grips/trigger guard
Troy battle rail
Troy tritium flip up front/rear sights (as the ORC is a flat top carbine/no stock sights)
AK style flash suppressor
Bushmaster competition bolt release lever
Over size charging handle

I haven't begun to assemble it yet, but right now I can buy a $465 delton kit and a $60 stripped blemished lower. $525+2 shippings and an ffl. (5?+20?+10) = $560?

^ But if you get a flattop upper, you will have to buy a rear sight to make it practical. Don't forget the magazines too :) I thought I could do a good budget build but started pricing things out and noticed I was STILL going to have to spend some serious money. I decided I would buy inexpensive quality items and have a little more invested. In fact, I built my first (of two) Sabre lowers today. The lower was 109 locally, Doublestar LPK for 75, (2) AR-Stoner 30rd mags were 18, and the Hogue grip for 14. The first build will more than likely wear a Del-ton middy upper, and will run irons only for a while. My second build is likely going to be a SPR knock-off.

I paid something like 600 for my Bushmaster (used). It was exactly what I wanted in that it has the solid M-16 style stock and traditional (though removable) carrying handle and sights. Simple and I still like it better than most every other AR I see.

That being said, the Ruger 556 has caught my eye, but that speaks more to my fanboydom than anything...

Built one for $425.....But what I made up in money I lost in looks and time scouring the EE used forum on arf.com

CMMG bargain bins is a combo. used and new parts right??

I'm bidding on a "custom" AR 15 with a 20'' barrel and a claimed LMT BCG for $500 + $30 for shipping, used. Think this is a good deal considering the owner claims the rifle only seeing 100 rounds?

Very basic configuration (A2 style), but has government style sling included.

Good Deal, you guys think??

I built mine for about 700 (including optic). I went with a used Olympic lower, DPMS Upper, 16" Del-Ton barrel, and a NcStar 3-9x40 scope.

Good God that's cheap! Complete and functioning colt uppers??

Will do Rogertc1. You guys think this is a good deal considering what I said in the above post?

No blemishes on the 7-8 pictures of the rifle; Like-New borderline Brand-New.

yep. stripped m4 marked uppers, not complete. you can find deals like that all the time. heck, noveske is giving away blemished lowers with every rifle sold.

I bought my Rock River Arms Entry Tactical 2 weekends ago for $500 (used but in good condition) from a good buddy of mine! She's beautiful

I win!!!:neener:
I bought a used "broken" Olympic A1. Guy said it wouldn't eject when fired and the rounds would get stuck in the chamber.
I paid $310.00, pulled the gas tube off it and used a can of break-cleaner on it. Reassembled it and it now runs like a top as my beater AR.
So i'm in it for roughly $314.00
Eventually i'll put a flat top on it, but for now i win. What do i get???

Hahahhah, you are a funny sob, Ditch. :p

Nice deal you got. Still 3 1/2 days left on my auction; I probably won't get it for 500.

Those Del-ton kits are pretty amazing for the price. I can pick up a stripped lower for around $100 and make it under the $600 threshold with shipping included.
