I have some 30 rounders that I was lead to believe are USGI magazines. They are the flat gray color with green followers, bottom of the magazine is black with
"CENTER INDUSTIRESCORP.
WICHITA, KS U.S.A.
MFG. 6P199"

If you can....tell me who makes theres and if they are in fact USGI mags. TY

I can't read the floorplate but they look like all my GI magazines. Most of the cheap aftermarkets I have seen have been black or glossy gray not that flat teflon gray.

Center

Center Industries is the current contract supplier to the Military. I know the head sales guy there. He was in my office the other day and told me they were shipping 50,000 magazines to the military every month.

Are adventure line 20 and 30 rounders made for the US military?

They were.

One of my bigger laughs was some years back, when there was an ad in Shotgun News, that said "Buy our mags, not the cheap Adventure Line Mags." Later that day, my job took me to the small boat detachment at Cornado Naval Station (SEAL base). The gunners mate opened his mag locker, and guess what? They were all Adventure Line mags!
 
Yes, Adventure Line once had the contract for magazines. I don't know that they made a lot of 30 round mags, but they probably produced more 20s then any other manufacturer.

1st Tier

1. HK SA-80 mags (new, expensive, and currently restricted to LEOs)

2. Factory teflon-finished USGI-type mags made by La Belle for a number of OEMs

3. USGI aluminum mags (includes Colt mags)

4. FN FNC mags (steel)

5. Sterling AR180 mags

6. British steel SA-80 mags

7. FedOrd/PMI steel aftermarket mags

2nd Tier

8. Thermolds (USA made)

9. Thermolds (Canadian-made)

10. Orlites

Don't Waste Your Money

99. All of the other aftermarket crap mags, including USA, Triple K, Western Metal, Victor, Millet, ProMag, RamLine, and Eagle.

Gents, Wonder if anyone can tell me what these are worth...
Thanks I have 2 Okay 30's...3 adventureline 30's...1 center ind 30......3 dsl 30's 1 labelle 30.......and 2 adventire line 20's.....they all show some minor wear, and the four I have tried function flawlessly. I am tring to sell a bushmaster and these mags...and I guess my asking price is too hi....but I have not mentioned what type of mags they are. . I guess maybe I should.
 
I just paid $100 for five new in the wrap teflon 30 rd. LaBelle mags with free shipping. That or a few bucks more is the going price for new 30rd. USGI mags on the ar15 forum. I wouldn't pay more than $15 or so for good used ones.
 
coverdog is correct, used AR mags not more than $15 each...new in the wrapper $20-25 depending on what they are. If your selling an AR you should mention how many mags and that they are USGI.

You place Canadian thermolds at No. 9 but neglect to even mention AdventureLines and Okays??!! :rolleyes:

In case you didn't know, the Canadian Thermolds were tossed by the Canadian military because they used cheap plastic and they WOULD MELT IN THE RIFLES! I don't think these should belong in anybody's top ten list, and not even in the top 100.
 
Can someone point me to a source of 10 round AR mags that have the same profile as the 20 rounder? I'm looking for very good quality only.

I own a half dozen Thermolds, and a half dozen Orolites.
They run fine in my guns, although I seldom use them anymore.
When I got seriously into ARs, I bought a bunch of different magazines and tried them all. The only ones I ever had a problem with were with civilian mags, I think they might have been triple K but I am not sure.
Eveuntually, I settled down to using a dozen USGI magazines for formal training and to keep a couple loaded for possible defensive use. And I practice with a dozen of the British SA80 steel mags. I feel more comfortable dropping them on the ground when doing speed reloads. Actually I do have a problem with the SA80 mags in that they usually don't lock the bolt back when empty, but for practice, they work fine.
I wouldn't pass up any of the magazines on that list if the price was right. By the same token, I would base my purchase price pretty much on that list. I would pay top dollar for USGI magazines. I would by Termolds, Orolites, SA80 mags or whatever, if they were significantly cheaper to use as practice mags.

Colt makes a twenty that is blocked to only allow 10 rounds. I'm not sure if they are still producing them or not. They had a piece of metal held in with a rivet in the floor plate that you could remove (drill out) if you desired and it would then hold 20. The mags were just the standard 20 rounders. I have three of them. One I removed the rivet to allow full capacity.
 
rock jock, that info is on the AR15.com website like I said....I never said I wrote the article. The guy(troy) who did is the most knowlegable guy in the world when it comes to AR mags. Go to AR15.com and take it up with him.
Go back and read my post......it says right at the beginning the info is from the AR15.com website. Also the the post above it I made gives all the info on makers.....read everything before you try and jump someones ??? over your not reading the complete thread.
