Aimpoint, Eotech and a wide variety of Trijicon sights make me and me rifles work well together. Generally any match under 100 yards I run the lightest weight AR with an Eotech. 100-200 add the Eotech magnifier, Over 200 yards I'll run a heavy AR with an ACOG on top and RMR at 1300 for the close shots.

M4S is my favorite optic. I have some EOs and T-1s too, but I like the M4S best.

I probably shoot iron sights even more often than any optic though.

I voted a red dot i.e. Aimpoint and Eotech.

I have an Eotech now, along with other Red dots and IMO they provide the best target aquisition. Eotechs also allow you to have true both-eyes open, fast target acquisition. You can always add the magnifier to it (or NVG) if needed.

I have a Trijicon TA01, an Eotech, an Aimpoint.....I put them on the shelf or on other guns....for the AR, I prefer irons.

That would depend on its intended use

Yep.

I didn't vote because:

a) I think internet forum polls are dubious, at best. You'll get all kinds of responses based purely on opinion rather than actual useage or experience. Not to say you won't get some good factual info, just need to be careful and do your own research.

b) We don't know what the rifle will be used for.

I have two ARs. One wears a Vortex Strikefire for close work and the other a Leupold Mark AR 3-9x40 for distance. So for me, it depends on the use.
