Has anyone put a 6 position CAR collapsible on an AR-15A4 platform? How did it affect the rifle? How did it affect the balance? Will a collapsible stock work on the big .308 ARs?

Which collapsible stock would you recommend?

VR,

You mean a 20" rifle?

It makes a world of difference in the ease of handling, about like the difference between a fixed stock 20" and fixed stock 16".

I like the LMT receiver extension, you can get it with buffer, spring, and castle nut from ADCO firearms.

As for the stock, I went with the standard LMT stock (the $55 one) because I was not sure I would want to keep it on the rifle. It works so well I am keeping it that way instead of going to a Magpul M-95B or VLTOR modstock.

You can put one on an AR-10, rifle or carbine, so long as you are using parts designed for the AR-10.

CAR 6 Position Stock on a 20" Barrel AR

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, I meant a CAR 6 position collapsible stock on a 20" barrel AR-15 with a flat top (A4 Configuration).

I heard the Canadians have an M-16 flattop with 20" barrel and collapsible stock called the C7A2, aka the M-16A5. I wanted to see if anyone has converted their ARs into this configuration.

I put my 20" upper on my Bushy lower with collapsible stock just for the heck of it.

Now, I like the A2 stock and it fits me. But, I can see the advantage of having the collapsible (adjustible) stock. Makes the rifle a litte nose heavy but it handles nice. This setup would work nice if you had to wear a lot of gear.

Too many other things to get so the Colt will have to keep the A2 stock for now.

To clear up any potential misunderstandings, I have an AR-15 with a 20" A2 profile barrel and a collapsing stock.

It has proven reliable and considerably more manuverable than with the fixed A2 length stock it previously had.

So if you are considering doing this, yes it has been done before by a number of folks, all you have to do is remove the old stock and receiver extension and install the collapsible stock with extension, buffer, spring, and castle nut.

Unless you have a need for the heavy barrel I would recommend the lighter A2 barrel.
