Hey folks its time to start another ar build. Im working in kingsport, tn so decided to drop by buds new gun store in servierville. I picked up a anderson upper to start with for 60 bucks. I also just ordered a psa 16" barrel for 100 bucks. Im gonna stay with the cheap theme and see how low we can build a so so quality rifle. Looking for input on good but cheap parts for this budget build. I do want a free float rail or tube, i think it will be the trickiest part balancing price with quality. I see alot on amazon at sub 100 prices. Just need to find one thats not junk. Aldo need a good cheap bcg that is reliable. Lets make this a group project! Yall help me out.

perhaps you should add this BCG to your PSA order:

ATI M16 Complete Chrome Lined Bolt Carrier Group with Carpenter 158 Bolt $69.99

Brownells is having a pretty good AR sale right now. I ordered a Bushmaster stripped upper, BCG and DPMS small parts and CH for $129 plus $8 shipping. Arrived yesterday. Pretty good deal, I thought.

Not wanting to be designated a "grammar Nazi", but you seem to be seeking the most inexpensive parts relative to quality of production instead of the cheapest parts available to accomplish your build.

If relatively inexepensive and reliable parts are your goal, don't use "cheap" to define the parts you are willing to purchase for your build. Cheap parts are abundant...and priced accordingly. Risks obtain.

Yea i went "cheap" where i thought i could but am still trying to build a reliable rifle. Thats why i want to run psa's full auto BCG. I figure thats the part most likely to fail in a high stress situation.

PSA is the best source for most of what you need. Also JSE surplus.

As for FF hand guards, I don't think you can beat the UTG Pro series for value. US made, high quality, and can be found from $90 (7" quad) to $150 (15" keymod slim guard), depending on what you're after.

I have several of their quads, and recently scored the 15" slim on eBay for $120, which I installed on a PSA freedom upper. I really like it.

Beware the "Trinity Force" Chinese knock-off of the UTG super slim line. They look the part, but use a totally different and vastly inferior mounting system.

I can understand the mystique of building your own rifle. However if you are doing it to save money I would look at the latest AR offering from Ruger. About $600 and a factory warranty that goes with it.

I second what MachIVshooter says about the UTG. I built a
One for my grandson with the 9". Better quality than I expected and they are very light.

My current 'inexpensive' aka "cheap" build is gonna cost about a total of $470 (not including shipping).

Here's what I'm using for reference:
1. PSA/PTAC complete upper, Midlength gas, Stainless 1:7 barrel - $199
2. AIM NiB BCG - $100 shipped
3. Anderson stripped lower $70
4. PSA lower build kit $85
5. Charging handle - $15

I already have the tools for the lower, and extra optics/buis to use.

My other build that used freefloat rail which will threw off my budget to around $600+, so that becomes a not-so-cheap build.

I do recommend the Aim NiB BCG for $99 shipped as a plinking/range use.

If you want a better BCG, get one from Brownells or PSA's full-auto BCG's.

I have that same rail in 13" (that was the longest they had at the time) and I love it. When I build my next upper I will score the 15"

If you wait a month, there's usually some pretty good deals on Black Friday. I built half my mid quality AR off of sales from AIM and Rainier Arms.

Ill just build another on black friday lol. Just bought a psa full auto bcg bringing my upper total to 420. I could have saved some cash with a cheaper bcg but i still wanted a rifle capable of filling a hd/shtf role if needed.

Thats with a free float rail too. I feel that with the rail and a full auto bolt carrier that i built a fairly inexpensive rifle meeting or possibly exceeding what i could have gotten in a complete upper for the same price.
