You know that if you sell it you'll be wishing later that you hadn't. Save up $300 and get a Saiga. Then save up another $100-$200 and convert it.

Having used and shot Saiga's and various Romanian, Chinese and Yugo AK's, I'd rank the Saiga's top with the Yugos a close second. My buddies Bulgarian Arsenal is pretty nice too, but those are more expensive. The Valmet I got to shoot once at the range was in a whole different league.

I would keep the AR if I were you. I like both guns too much to only live with one.

And about the trigger....my AK has a nicer trigger than my AR.

I too would keep the AR and buy a saiga and then covnert it. Saiga's are inexpensive enough that unless money is really tight one could save up for one rather quickly. If money is to tight to save up for it then shooting it is unlikely to be economicaly feasible and what's the point?

AK103K, it actually was just laser bore sighted with an in chamber laser, not unusual for my builds, usually takes me 2 shots to sight in any AK pattern rifle that one was dead on those two shots are part of the lower group....... I shoot everyday, been shooting AKs in particular for 34 years.... fell in love with em after getting to play with my dads Chicom viet bring back, pretty much dedicated most of my life to these rifles ever since.... I'm a tad familiar with them and with the ballistics of the 7.62x39 cartridge ;)

AS far as the factory for WASR/SAR actually no they are not, they are built at the Sadu arsenal (military issue guns are actually built at Cugir and the new ARMS arsenal also in Cugir) in a seperate facility on the Sadu grounds dedicated to non military production, those working in that facility earn about 20% less than those working at the actual Sadu military arsenal so not much motivation for top quality workmanship, the WASR/SAR rifles were a brainstorm to allow them to reduce waste as all the out of spec parts were deemed "safe" for use in commercial sporting guns......

ya might wanna actually visit AK-Files.com

thousands of folks building kits and very few issues... as far as buying milsurps reassembled here in the states...... totally dependent upon the builder and a hint....... ya won't find many real builders having anything to do with that worthless rag Shotgun news......... a good source of misinformation but thats bout it.... ESPECIALLY regarding building guns

ak-files.com

ya can actually learn a bit bout those arsenal built WASR/SAR rifles too, will save ya from further distributing your own misinformation as above...... the details etc.. regarding them is nothing new that info has been around since 1999

Interesting. Both my SAR and WASR are marked "ROMARM S.A./CUGIR".

NP,

Those bolsheviks are in the same department as me, (I'm in French,) and the still have a rep for showing up for work smelling like le vodka, and being almost sadistically disciplined. The major who sits next to me in class went through Russian in about '88-89.

I say

do whatever you want. It's your money, your gun. Trade it for a WASR... Trade it for a Lancaster... Trade it for some magic beans.

Go for it. Don't let some internet peeps make your decisions for you.

The thicker receiver doesn't enhance durability ( look at all the millions of AKMs out there with regular ol' 1.0mm receiver shells ).

It just adds "weight" to the equation.

That's why people go for thicker receivers. The weight offsets some of the recoil. That's why the VEPR rifles were considered so fine- they weighed more than other AKs (because they were build on RPK receivers).
