AR front sight post

Is there any downside to switching from the stock front sight post on an A2 style Ar-15 to a slimmer front sight post like those pictured here?

I have techsights on my .22 and love the slim front sight and thinking of switching out the front on my AR. Am I missing something/why didn't it come from the factory with a slimmer post?

less rugged at expense of a finer sight picture. Things are milspec for a reason but often our pedestrian use is better off with aftermarket parts.
