Victim in Lewisville Shooting Had Long Arrest History ___ KATV
Interact ___

Lewisville (AP) - Investigators say a Louisiana man shot to death at the
home of a former Arkansas city attorney last week had a lengthy criminal
record. Kenneth Bruce Dukes of Haughton, Louisiana, appears to have died
of a single gunshot wound.

Dukes was killed Wednesday at the home of John Patton IV, former city
attorney for Lewisville and Stamps. Patton apparently told Lafayette
County deputies who responded to his home when an attempted break-in was
reported that he fired the fatal shot.

According to the Bossier Parish, Louisiana, Sheriff Department records
division, Dukes was arrested on six drug-related charges during the past
14 years. Dukes was charged with a parole violation in 1997. His latest
arrest was September 8th, when he was charged with five drug offenses
and obstruction of justice.

Investigators believe Patton and Dukes were acquainted. No charges have
been filed against Patton.

Not everyone who gets shot is a VICTIM. Do you call death row inmates VICTIMS when they are finally sent to meet their maker? A person shot while breaking into someone's home is a permanently thwarted criminal.

A former city attorney's house being broken into by a a repeat criminal. Does anyone need more than two guesses to figure out a motive?

I agree with outfieldjack.
