Friday night I spoke with Robb at Golden State Tactical in Fair Oaks and he told me he had plenty of stripped lowers on hand and available. I just got off the phone with him this morning and he has only 5 left is stock. He said that Saturday was a firestorm of buying....

We better fasten our seat belts for what's to come. I went through this before during the original Clinton Assult Weapons Ban in 1994...

Best get your buying done soon (or not)...

Most definitely.

I've been looking around for a couple things lately myself, but I've gotten at least one call or email every day recently from different people I know that are DESPERATELY looking for an AR15 and are asking me to help them find one.

Anyway, does anyone here know when it was that AIMS ran dry of the Spike's lowers? Not sure if that happened last spring or last month.

Supply and demand. Just finished a Spikes ar lower I purchased for $86 on closeout from MIdway a couple of months ago. Same lower today $130 from local dealer. There are still plenty of ars and parts available. Just the market has changed.

Even in NJ we can get Ar15's and I suspect that the worst the rest of the country will see is Jersey style permitting and background checks. So far, the only complaint I have is that to purchase a handgun the wait is usually 3-4 months and the process costs around $20 each time with only 4 permits allowed at a time and with a 90 day expiration date on each permit.

Listen folks, my blood probably has detectable traces of brass in it from how much I love to shoot and hunt but I'm all for tightening up some of the loopholes- and I want to stress that in the latest tragedy that wouldn't have mattered- but I still feel like we ought to be a little more vigilant.
In my 20's I really believe that the gun laws here kept me from getting a DWI or ever seriously getting into trouble- I walked away from many fights knowing that if I chose to punch out some idiot that it might mean a police record. On the other hand, even juvie records count and I'm not quite sure someone should be forever barred from owning firearms because they did something dumb as a kid.
In any case, I would wait 6 months if I was in the market because prices have skyrocketed, any they will probably normalize in time. It's like people paying $2k right now for Colt Pythons largely because Rick has one ; )

a little over 1 year ago (July 2011) I found a deal too do go pass up. Palmetto State Armory had lowers for $49.99 on a july 4th sale. I bought 3. They've never gone below $79.99 on sale since. Now with all this I'm glad I still have 2 in my gun safe un touched. They were so cool they gave me consecutive serial numbers.

New Frontier and Plumb Crazy both sell polymer lowers for $49 a month ago, so they might be up to $80 now, still not a bad deal.

Looks like I was wrong they are $44.99 in stock now. that was just a quick search and the first hit, I've never ordered from Joebob, that's your call.

I'm not so sure. Unless something else comes along to take the national focus away (hopefully they will get back to dealing with the budget) I think we are going to see some seriously ugly legislation coming down the pike.

The GOP has a 50 seat advantage in the house, plus many of the dems in red or purple districts will not be happy voting for a ban. Remember in 1994, the dems lost big (54 seats) after passing the last ban. All politicians remember that sting. So the libs would need 25 GOP and all of the dems to pass it. All house members are up for election in 2014. It would be another wipeout. Not gonna happen.

I am sure some GOPer in the senate will filibuster it too.

Even tho the media is in a frenzy, the polls show the highest support for gun support since WWII. The politicians know that.

The holidays will help many forget about the gun issue. By early Jan it should be all but over. There will be a vote i'm sure, but i dont think it will pass.

Possible, yes. Probable, no.

i agree that there wont be any anti gun legislation passed... we tried the AWB for 10 years and it was proven to not do anything but cost them votes.. the real problem is though that most of these shooters in these events are on brain-altering medications and i know pharmaceutical companies like to grease a few palms to get their drugs through FDA so they can make money on them...

and the unfortunate part is right now, problems like this are being entirely overlooked because the anti-gun community is using this incident to push their agenda without any care or concern about the causes... but i think we're safe on the gun laws... but i bought a bulgarian AK74 parts kit to be on the safe side as the AK design is my favorite and i think everyone should have atleast one "black" rifle for the purposes our second amendment intended.... besides this everthing else on my list doesnt seem to concern them (lever actions, bolt actions, revolvers, etc)

not to go off on a rant... but to this day for the life of me i still cant understand why someone could ever lack enough common sense to understand what a criminal is, and why increase legislation doesnt matter to them

That is right.

The house won't pass it, and above all things, politicians want to be reelected.

heres another thing to point out... the second amendment has been winning a lot of victories lately... DC gun ban lifted, illinois gun ban was listed, now illinois has to allow conceal carry, the second amendment clarified beyond a shadow of a doubt that we have a constitution right to really own whatever we feel like owning and i just see gun control reversing everywhere... in fact, given the militant intent of the second amendment i wouldnt be too suprised to see some restrictions on full auto lifted little more than the hoops we jump through for concealed carry

I always find the Anti's reasoning hard to justify, mostly because its so bias against guns. I meant the most recent shootings, the guy was from a devorsed couple, should we outlaw or restrict devorse? He played violent video games, should we outlaw or restrict that? He drove a car to the school, maybe that? He wore black boots, how about that? I know I'm pushing the boundaries on their opinion but where does the focus come from? At what point do we get down to why? I have young children and its a horrible incident, I'm interested in real solutions, not the knee jerk reaction to limit guns or say if he didn't have a gun this wouldn't happen. The "leadership" should step up for a real solution.

love or hate the NRA, they have been trying to educate the public and making gun ownership friendlier. Now if the NRA can quit endorsing these spineless Dems.

I have been told that one of biggest shops here in Memphs has all but sold out of ARs last few days. They sold hundreds.

Availability will be very spotty for a while.

As for your comment about Memphis being sold out of ARs you should go look at Guns And Ammo on summer they have oodles of them.

Are lowers getting hard to find? Yep, bought the last one my LGS had and he is getting told that he won't see any more (at least from his favorite supplier) for six months or so.

G&A on summer reported they sold 200 ARs yesterday and more than 1 close friend said the wall was almost empty. Did they get more today? Did you go by there today?

I looked on gun broker tonight out of curiosity (and because I was planning on buying an AR come my bonus in March). Holy cow!! Prices appear to have nearly doubled on much of the available stock. I saw a number of AR lower receivers that had been bid up to $400-$500! Makes me think that come March I might pass and buy something less "evil looking" from my wish list (maybe time for that Single Nine ) in hopes that AR prices will come back down out of the stratosphere in a year or so.....

.....of course this thought process could totally back fire if Obama and DiFi manage to get their way...:barf:

I ordered a stripped lower from my LGS. They were on the phone with their supplier when I walked in. The owner knows I've been wanting to build an AR for coyotes and other critters and he told me that it would be 4-8 weeks for delivery if I ordered today. That particular supplier told him that they could guarantee delivery in 8 weeks on anything ordered before Christmas, but after that, they didn't know when delivery would be.

The supplier could have been blowing smoke, but the owner threw in the offer of free gunsmithing services if they don't show up on time.

Matt

Yeah I was there and they had full cases and a bunch on the wall. They were selling a bunch while I was in there or being real pushy to guys that hadn't made up their mind yet. All the while I had cash in hand for a CZ 85 they didn't want anything to do with me because I was smart enough to have gotten an AR before everybody started panic buying.

Lowers have been hard to find in stock for a while now. BCG's too. A few weeks ago I got a phone call about where to find a lower. I told them search on the net with credit card in hand.

Some things are easier to buy & make a person feel like they have something. Anything relatively cheap like primers & .22lr is easy to run up the numbers on. Having to pay a Hazmat and shooting a lot of .22lr make easy for me to justify. I ended up with a few extra lowers than I planned on because I couldn't pass up the deals.

I wonder how many stripped lowers are out there for every built up lower. My guess is 2 or 3 to every one built.

Hopefully the panic buying sends a message. It is not convenient, but I'll adjust.

I think it did send a message. That with a phone call to Sen. Joe Manchin of VA. He backed off his call for a ban. Between that and Obummer giving the gun stuff to Biden, i think this is all but over. Issues are given to VPs to go away.

My local Pawn/gun shop pulled all of their lowers and repriced them. I called they told me $119. I show up and they tell me i have to make a bid.
