AR People: What Do You Think of the LaRue Tactical MBP-2S Trigger?

Shooters with lesser skill in trigger management will impart more influence to the rifle during the trigger stroke

I can’t tell you how many hours I have invested at the range to “mitigate” this, but it’s a lot.

I really like my LaRue 2 stage trigger.

I have one Geissle and it’s not worth the money over the LaRue in my opinion. Marginally better at best.
I have 2 Geissele SSA E triggers and two LaRue. The absolute best pull of the four belongs to one of the Geissele units. But it is very close. The Geissele also more closely follows the form of a standard trigger, the Larue being oversized. My Geissele s are a few years old now, can't vouch for current production. They all run like a Bernina. The LaRue triggers are great too.

The LaRue is great at the price and even twice the price. I prefer them over anything Bill Geissele ever made. To get substantially better, you need to jump to a Triggertech.

Have you shot many Geissele's. SSA, G2S, flat bow 3 gun or combat triggers? I have and don't have a huge frame of reference as far as other makers go but compared to a mil spec and a few others the Geissele are unbelievable, especially the flat bow combat trigger. Jmo.

I like the LaRue better than the Gissele 2SG. They're very similar, but the LaRue is more consistent and feels better.

The higher end G triggers are noticeably nicer though.

For the cost though, if it suits your needs the LaRue is hard to beat.

I am barely on the AR bandwagon. I am just sitting on the edge of the bed. I have two of the LaRue triggers one a curved, the other straight, and both do just what I want them to do. If I ever do anything else with an AR it will get the straight trigger version as I have found a very slight preference for it.

There definitely is a difference between a GI trigger, mid level triggers and high end triggers. But how a trigger feels to individual shooters can be subjective at times. A trigger will feel good for one person and not so good for another.

Yes the Larue MBT-2S is a good trigger for the money. Yes there are better triggers available. Go with what is in your budget and what feels good to you.

What triggers do you recommend?

I use a lot of Larue MBT-2S’s in customer rifles, as well as Geissele G2S-E’s and Rock River NM and Varmint 2 stages when they are looking for a small shooting rifle at a lower price point. For my personal rifles, I use Geissele NM 2 stage triggers, Elftmann, and a couple original Bushmaster NM 2 stage triggers (absolutely unrelated to the new product being sold under the Bushmaster brand).

I would highly recommend trying a flat bow Geissele if you ever get the chance, they are fantastic. I should have jumped on the SD-C when they were on sale at Christmas for $149.

I don't have any Super Dynamic's (Flat Bow) on any of my AR's but I have used them enough to have really taken a liking to them and anybody looking for upgraded triggers would be wise to wait for the 20%-30% off sales. Sometimes the G2S Geissele is on sale for the same price as the LaRue MBT and I favor the Geissele over it. If Geissele made the G2S with a flat bow for $100 +/- it would sell like mad..... I'd be buying 3 or 4

Hey all:

I just installed my first one yesterday, very clean and easy to install. I bought two more on Black Friday Sale so two more will go into other builds. Have not been to the range yet but just dry firing (with snap caps), it feels amazing compared to my standard MilSpec triggers in my ARs. So far, I'm impressed for $89.00. But I have no experience with higher end $300 AR triggers.

Anyone have any good reactions, experience or tales with the MBP-2S?

I have the MBT straight trigger on my 223Wylde DMR and it's the lightest trigger I've ever felt on an AR lol. It's better than a 2.5lb CMC single stage! I will definitely go with the LaRue MBT again if I need to change out a trigger or put together another build.

I loved my first MBT-2S so much that I bought another and will get several more as funds allow.

My BIL tried my Larue and was so impressed with it that when I assembled an AR for him a MBT-2S went into it. He loves it.

I don't think you can find a better trigger for the price. That fact that it is S7 tool steel just makes it even better.

After reading the responses, I think I'm gonna buy a couple. Only nice triggers I own are G SSA-E, they're awesome and so is the price -Not! :)

I've got both, I got them for close enough to the same price to consider it a wash.

I did a pretty detailed head-to-head comparison between them with my trigger pull gauge and I'll call them a tie with a caveat.

I think I slightly prefer the G for run and gun carbines and the LaRue for more precision type work.

The new Bushmaster DM2S is actually a refreshed DPMS two-stage that somehow ended up with the new Bushmaster rather than the new DPMS. Strange things happen in Bankruptcies, like Ruger ending up with the old Remington's patent on a new 22LR rotary magazine...

I have a couple of G2S's and a couple MBT-2S's. My thoughts/experience with them are EXACTLY the same as yours. I really like the MBT-2S, and wouldn't hesitate to get another, especially if I found one on sale.
