Hi All,
I received this rifle a couple of weeks ago after a 17 month wait. I almost cancelled the order several times. I had the chance to fire the rifle last weekend.
Here are some of my impressions.
The first thing I did to the rifle was remove the Magpul PRS stock that I ordered the rifle with and put it another another AR-10. I put an ARFX fixed stock on as a replacement. I decided I wanted to keep the rifle as light as possible as that is the purpose of this firearm being in my collection. I than thoroughly cleaned of the factory lube and relubricated. Holy crap this rifle is tight. Needed a punch to push out the the take down pins. To separate the upper and lower, it took several good blows with the palm of my hand on the stock. It was just as tight when I reassembled.
Next, I mounted a Trijicon Accupoint 5-20X scope in a Larue mount which I took off of another rifle. When funds allow, I will mount a lighter scope with less magnification.
The rifle has a 16.1 inch barrel with a Surefire compensator. Fit and finish on the rifle is first rate. The rifle does not have a forward asssist. I am using Magpul 10 round magazines. I would guess that the rifle weighs in at less than 9 pounds with the scope and an empty magazine.
I took the riflle to the range with an assortment of factory ammo in the 165 to 168 grain range. I had PPU, Federal Fusion, Hornady and Hornady Superperformance. After zeroing the rifle at 50 yards I went to 100 yards and than 300 yards. I think the rifle liked the Hornady Superperformance best. At 100 yards I was easily shooting under 1 MOA. At 300 yards, it was a bit more challenging. Best group was probably 6 to 7 inches.
The rifle has a Giesselle two stage trigger which I am not quite used to. My other AR's have single stage triggers. The second stage is very crisp, but still a little heavy for my liking. I am sure the more I shoot the rifle the more accustomed I will become with the trigger system. I put about 100 rounds through the riflle thus far. I had no malfunctions of any type.
So far I am thoroughly impressed. The rifle is plenty accurate, light weight and apparently reliable based on limited use. The recoil is not much more than an AR-15. I can't wait to get a dedicated optic for the rifle. I am looking for something in the 2-10X range. Plan to use the rifle on hogs and possible Heavy Metal matches.
Here is a quick picture of the rifle. Let me know what you think.
