A gun shop near where I work is advertising stripped Aero Precision AR lowers. I know a good deal when I see one, so I'm swinging by after work and picking one up for a future build.

What is the top end, dollar wise, that you would spend on a stripped lower?

What is the best deal you've gotten for one?

They sell for about $100. So if that was the one I wanted I'd add cost of delivery and transfer and use that as a basis for what I'd be willing to pay at the local FFL.

I don't remember an exact price, but I've bought RRA lowers for around $75 new. I think they go for twice that now.

I was thinking in that $100-125 range, myself.

If it was something really unique or unusual, I might go up a little from that, but barring any truly custom work or special materials it's still just a machined chunk of aluminum.

If you're curious about the Aero Precision lower quality, my AR sports one and it is top notch quality. Mated perfectly with a Spike's upper (If my research is correct, Spike's receivers are made by Aero Precision but stamped with the Spike's name). I paid $76 on sale at Brownells last year before all the hoopla, but they are showing $99.99 now.

My local shop has them for $125. I can get them a bit cheaper from PSA, but sometimes its worth spending $20 extra for the convenience.

The transfer cost is the real joker in the deck; some FFL's are asking as much for that as what the lower cost. LGS gets $125 or 10% of the value of the gun; whichever is greater. So sense buying anywhere but his place..

For a high quality forged lower, I'd pay up to $100.

Or find another FFL. That fee is rediculous...

Primary Arms (which is local to me) had Aero Precision stripped lowers on sale for $69.95+tax. I drove down and picked one up. The lack of shipping and transfer fee made it a good deal. He said he'd sold 300 that morning and I got one of the last ones.

Around here a FFL transfer runs $20-25.

Local shop I visited the other day had them for $122 minus tax. A little too much to pay for a serial number to me. Complete lowers were only 250 with 6 position stock, much better deal.

$59 for the stripped pictogram lowers PSA is selling right now, or wait til they are throwing in a parts kit for $99.
