So I bought this upper used about 10 years ago and still haven't shot it. I have a desert eagle and thought it would be a cool combo. After a wrist injury while overseas I will never again be able to shoot my DE so I put it on consignment. I've been thinking about selling the upper as well but I have no idea of the value with todays crazy market. I sent Tony Rumore an email asking about what I had and he responded that it was 1 of only 20 made with the a2 style upper. So my question is what do you guys think I will get out of it? Or should I even sell it? I know I will never be able to replace it if I do let it go.

If you bought it used 10 years ago you should at least be able to break even but most likely make a few bucks. I think you missed this peak of the market by a couple months but prices are still up 20% over last year at this time.

Yeah i'm sure your right about being a little late trying to sell it. Its a lot easier buying stuff than it is to sell it!

Go auction. Or, maybe, keep it. And forgive my inquiry, but BOTH wrists? I know .50AE is a show stopper for recoil in a pistol....but it sounds like your AR *IS* an almost-unique weapon in its own right. Whatever you decide, proceed with caution- it might be worth a great deal to the .50 AE folks out there. It might be the largest bore AR ever made(?) as well.

I only injured my right wrist. I can still shoot most handguns left handed and I can shoot low recoil stuff right handed but I touched of my desert eagle once left handed (using my right as the support hand) and that sucked. I could prolly hand load some light loads for it but I'm sure I would run into function problems. I don't have any trouble with rifles I was just thinking about deleting the caliber from my collection.

A tromix upper is not a regular one and has a different market. I'm sure there are a number of buyers who would pay a premium to own such a limited item. There are a fair number of tromix fans out there. Tony made very good AR uppers but isn't doing ARs anymore.

Personally I wouldn't sell it, unless I really needed the money. If you do sale it, try to find a buyer who appreciates it for what it is.

Well thats just it. I don't need the money. But I'm sure there is a guy out there that would appreciate more than I do. I agree Tony's stuff is top notch. I'd love to have him go over one of my siagas!

I thought about listing it in the for sale section but you have to list a specific price or trade. I wasn't sure what to ask for it and i'm still not really sure what its worth.

It's in 50AE not Beowulf. But thanks for the link TX that a cool site I hadn't been to before. I might spend some time over there then list it later if I think they would be interested. I just don't want to be the new guy that shows up and lists something in his first post.

45bThompson,

I'd be very interested in buying your Tromix .50AE upper!
I've been looking for one for a LONG time, and since there were very few made, they are impossible to find. I also own a Desert Eagle with both .50AE and 44 Magnum barrels and magazines.

I've never owned an AR but if I could get a .50AE upper, it would be my first! I don't think you'll find anyone who would appreciate owning a Tromix upper more than me. To me, the Tromix .50 Sledgehammer is legendary!

I have a .50AE upper on my Bushmaster lower and love it...gets a lot of attention at the range. I also reload .50AE and enjoy putting these big puppies into the AR mags.

Wonder how many uppers there are in this caliber?
