Just got a new bolt carrier for my Colt AR15. I plan to use the existing bolt, firing pin, etc.... Can I just swap all these parts into the new carrier and be safe to shoot? Does anything need to be gauged even though it is the existing bolt? Also, how do I get that stinkin retaining pin back through the hole?!

It shoulldn't be a problem. Sometimes I have to give the retaining pin a little twist to get it to seat all the way.

Yes, it's that easy. Headspace is determined by the bolt head (lugs), and as long as your new carrier (and other parts) are in spec and in good shape, you're good to go.

It is also easier to clean, however chrome plating also has its downfalls with the possibility of being uneven. But it does look nice.

They look cool but show no improvement. Ive fired thousands of rounds in single sittings with my m16a2(pre 2005) and a4's without a hitch.
