...There are so many companies offering rifles its hard to choose. I'm wondering if any of you have info...good or bad...about "Model 1 Sales" AR rifles. I looked at them. I liked the choices offered. I just wonder if they make a good, functional, shooter type rifle.

I'm not shooting Three gun or any kind of completion. I just want a rifle that is reasonably accurate...as in hit where I aim.

I don't know anyone that's dealt with this company.

Thanks, in advance.!

Mark

Never dealt with them but from what I see on their site you could buy a bcm for about the same money. An upper kit with cl barrel was 520 dollars. Bcm moe uppers are about 550.

Palmetto State Armory is good, as is Del-Ton. I had a Stag 2 complete upper and it was an awesome shooter. From personal experience, Del-Ton and Stag uppers will be accurate enough for what you want. Just remember that the cheap FMJ ammo probably will not shoot MOA or under. If you want to get the smallest groups possible, you will have to run premium ammo or roll your own. Also, RGuns makes a pretty decent upper for the price. My brother has an A2 rifle upper from them and it is surprisingly accurate.

I too, have heard bad things about M1S, but their ads sure are pretty! Sign up for Palmetto's daily emails, you might be surprised what kind of deals you find there. You will probably end up with more than 1 AR.....

Just about any AR will meet this criterion. The least accurate ones tend to be the ones with chrome lined mil spec barrels, and they will still almost always do 2 MOA or better with decent ammo. I usually recommend PSA rifles too. They are one of the least expensive places to get the stuff to put together an AR, and most of their stuff is actually very high quality. For instance, the blemished 16" M4 upper they have on sale right now for $270 has a very high quality barrel -- chrome lined, with the high pressure test/mag particle inspection QC that most other manufacturers don't do. They have a good deal on a whole rifle kit with a free float handguard too. If you build using either of those uppers, you could have a very nice starter AR for well under $700, that you could take any direction you want.

I for one like Model 1. The people ive talked to are kind and the rifles seem to be built fine. Do you want high or medium end rifles??

Agreed that PSA is good to go, but stay away from PTAC (which is an entirely different company that PSA must have some sort of exclusive web retail rights or something).

Many will complain about slow shipping and I have to agree they are definitely not the fastest. However, I've ordered everything from ammo to mags, parts kits to full firearms... and aside from a middy upper that took almost a month (right after aurora) everything has usually been to my doorstep (or the FFL's) in under 2 weeks.

AR-15

I have Colt and DPMS AR-15s and they both are very accurate, reliable. I understand some people say the DPMS will not hold up. I'm not it the military (served in the 1950s before the AR-15 was made) so mine are for recreational use only.

Thanks, to everyone for the responses. I think I'd better keep looking a bit.

I'm wanting an A3 upper with a 20" barrel. I want flip sights and a 6-position stock. There is nothing special about this style of rifle so anyone should be able to put this together. I know its not the 16" shorty that seems to be the rage but its more the style that suits me (from the few AR guns I've shot).

This is a real jump for me because none of my guns are "modern style"...they're all old. :D

Thanks again.

If you have problems with your rifle not cycling and the lady (or anyone) on the phone says, "Our lead tech just stepped out. Leave your phone number and he will get back with you." You have just been given the brush-off. It happened to me three times. They never called back.

Get better quality service elsewhere...

I haven't bought a complete rifle from Model One, but I HAVE purchased a complete parts kit from them. PLEASED as PUNCH. I got to pick and choose from a bunch of custom parts to build EXACTLY what I wanted, all I had to do was assemble the lower.

Model One Sales makes good stuff in my experience.

That sounds just like my favorite AR! It is a PSA build.

I did not have a M1S complete rifle but I did have a NM upper, I think they call them the ODCMP model. That was the most accurate upper I've used so far, and no failures at all. I sold it on a whim and have always regretted it to the point that I've considered getting another one, even though I absolutely do not need it.

Mine too. I've only got one kit and a pair of complete uppers, no complete rifles.

I've a 16" bull barrel "varmint" kit, 16" 7.62x39 upper, and 7.5" 9mm upper. All have been great, both reliable and accurate. I also used their "enhanced" 7.62x39 firing pin to fix ignition problems in an M&A Parts 7.62x39 11" SBR upper.

The M&A Parts upper was not so great as it was way under gassed in addition to having ignition problems. But since I've opened up the port and replaced the firing pin its become one of my favorites. I went with it instead of M1S because they used 1/2-28 muzzle threads instead of the 1/2-36 used by M1S so it was easier to get a QD mount for my HVT-QD suppressor.

My only AR that is as accurate as the M1S 16" bull barrel is my 24" RRA that cost about 2X more.

I own a model1 built rifle.

first off, they don't build rifles, they sell rifle kits which include all parts except the lower receiver, and you assemble them yourself. unless you are going a specialty caliber they aren't the best road. for the price you can get a palmetto state, Smith and Wesson or DPMS for cheaper but if you are looking at 9mm, 5.45 or other then model 1 is a good place to go to.

I bought a stag model 2 and I love it.

I've since put close to 10k rounds through it in competition and intense courses. It eats steel and brass cased up like I eat cheap Chinese when I'm hung over.

I've since floated the barrel, added an optic and all that jazz, but unless you wanna go big and get a bravo company or Daniel defense and others of that ilk, the stag is an excellent choice in the mid tier price range
