ar15? how do you tell if your ar is pre a ban? i have a colt sporter h-bar 1/7 twist. thats all i can tell ya about this gun. i can look at the # if that makes a difference

it dosent have a bayonet lug, carry handle is permanent. i looked at the site taliv but i couldnt figure it out. is it safe to give out a ser# its first 2 letters are mh

ok let me put another way what does pre ban have to do with? im guessing something to do with little billy clinton. but i dont no what. or what it means to me

but i couldnt figure it out

:scrutiny:

mh086020 was the last pre-ban gun in that series that colt made. so if your SN is lower than that (e.g. mh086019) then it's pre-ban. if it's higher (e.g. mh086021) then it's post-ban.

as jeff implies, it doesn't matter anymore in free-states.

i'm just passing along info from that site. call colt and ask them before you do anything that might be illegal. it's not my fault if the info on that site is incorrect.

Questioner:

Does it have evil features:
Yes Yes

Will this firearm accept a rifle grenade ?
Yes No

Does it have a 'protruding' pistol grip?
Yes No

If answered yes on the above question:
Can it be fired rapidly from the hip?
Yes No
Will this rifle accept magazines over 2 1/2 rounds?
Yes No

Does the stock collapsed so concealment in your coat is possible?
Yes No

Is this assault rifle black?
Yes No

Does you rifle hide the 'flash'?
Yes No

Are all these features a cosmetic waste of legislation?/
Yes Most definitely

If you answered yes to Three of the following, you can drop you assault weapon off at the local police department where it can be disposed of properly.
Thank you.

no i aint going to do anything but shoot it. i thought one might be worth more than the other or something like like the ruger 580 vs. the older rugers. thanks guys for the info

Unless you live in New York, California or another state that has some version of the 1994 AWB in state law, it doesn't mean anything to you. There may be some collector value, but I wouldn't know anything about that.

On September 14 2004 the Federal AWB died a natural death. May we cut off it's head and stake it into the ground with an oak stave so it never rises again....
