Hi new to the forum and to guns. I was looking for some suggestions on which gun to buy. I like the Browning High power but its not in the budget. The Arcus is a hipower clone. The ruger i have read to be a good gun but the Arcus fits my hand better. bith shot well. I have heard of ruger but not Arcus. can anyone tell me which one is better.

Ive really been thinking about the arcus it looks like a lot of gun for the money over the ruger but the ruger is the safe bet sinse the arcus is fairly new

I've never heard of the Arcus, but I've been a Ruger man for almost 30 years. I have a P-95 and it's a tack driving tank, plus the Ruger customer service is top notch.

Arcus has been around quite a while - they're hardly new. That said, they're not exact Hi Power clones. The 94 for example uses a shorter barrel and slide and several other parts are different. It can take the original Hi Power mags though (which is a plus - the Arcus 98 uses a longer grip and can't use them).

My personal opinion would be to get the Ruger. Parts for it will be more common, it's a better beginner's gun, and it's rock solid. If you really wanted a Hi Power clone I'd look at something that's more of an exact clone like the Kareens or the FEG's (neither are made new anymore though, so these would both be used marketed purchases).

;) I have owned both but sold them. They were both good guns. The FEG is a better HP clone. Ruger guns are built like tanks, but they are big and chunky. I would go with the FEG.It is a fine pistol.I own 2 of them, put them up for grandkids! The last one I paid $250 NIB at pawn shop. Not bad for a great clone of the Browning HP. Good luck, have fun, be safe.

Ruger P-95 hands down.

It's easy to shoot, tune and gets parts and mags for.

Ruger semi-auto's have never impressed me like their revolvers have. For me, they're a miss.

The Bulgarian Arcus 94 is a great little gun. My buddy has one. I met him at the range a few months ago after he first purchased it. He let me shoot a magazine's worth of rounds. I was impressed. Finding a holster to carry it in may be a bit of a hassle as the slide is squared, not rounded like a HP.
