Are JHP generally more accurate than FMJ?

the bullets RMR makes are low dollar/high quality so, that rule's got exceptions (don't they all?)
Jake will tell you that his 9mm 124gr FN MatchWinners are more accurate than his 124gr RN FMJ bullets.

Even then, his 124gr RN FMJ bullets were selected by Eley for their new CF line of cartridges....after beating out all the other 124gr FMJ bullets available

The base is more important to accuracy than the tip. The last thing that leaves the barrel is the base, it needs to be very uniform for fine accuracy, and it’s hard to do that with open base bullets.

The article that @243winxb linked talked about rifle bullets and how accuracy can increase with a consistent base, I get that, but for a pistol at 10-20 yards? The bullet has engaged the lands, it would seem the base is messed up by the time it obturates and exits the muzzle. At that point, is it the gases inducing slight changes in the trajectory or just the bullet never makes a clean break from the barrel?

That author has said in another article that flat point bullets are more consistently accurate than RN bullets, here:

That’s really an interesting article, too bad they didn’t include lead based bullets, perhaps like federal syntech (for the 9mm testing). All bullets seem to be jacketed. They don’t talk anything about the base of the bullets, I would have thought if that was a factor, somehow it’s be mentioned.
