Are lead bullets going to drop with lead surcharges any time soon?

Maybe I've missed this at the places I've been shopping for lead bullets at, but has anyone else noticed that the precipitous drop in lead prices hasn't translated into a reduction in bullet prices?

Is is still working its way through the system? Some of these manufacturers are selling at $100/k still!

What gives? Anyone's regular shopping haunts dropping their prices? Am I crazy?

Don't Hold Your Breath

Oh, Please....

Lead/cast bullet prices are going to come down only when the producers find out that people have stopped buying their products. This is a function of basic supply and demand economics.

With the current political climate, many shooters are buying any kind of whatever just because they don't trust the new administration. As long as there's a buying binge on anything in the shooting world, prices of bullets should stay where they are.

As months go by and people have satisfied their desire to hoard, and others have been hit by hard economic times, demand will go way down. Producers will then find that their manufacturing capacity outweighs the demand. Only there would they want to drop prices in order to sell their product.

Give it a few months. I'm betting it'll happen in 4-6 months.

Well, Berry’s dropped the lead surcharge. The part that sucks is they just rolled it into the price. That tells me, now that lead prices are going down, that berry’s profits are going to go up.

Can someone explain why WWB 130gr FMJ .38 special was $16/box at cabelas and WWB 150something grain LRN .38 special was about $30/box? Both 50 rds.

2 Box Prices

They're both at $30 because they believe they can get somebody to pay for it.
Price and value are two entirely different concepts.

And with Berry's - yeah, don't blame it just on them. I've noticed that prices on crackers (yes, groceries) went up about 30% on some brands and are now being advertised as "on sale" to only 20% over what they were last month.:fire:

Hi Rmeju,

I am not sure where you are shopping for your cast bullets but we have been steadly decreasing our pricing based on shipments of alloy as they arrive. Our pricing has decreased several times in the past three months. You may want to check out our pricing.

Price drop?

We haven't reduced our prices. However, we haven't had a price increase since January of '08 and don't plan another one in the foreseeable future.

I realize that this isn't supposed to be an advertising platform for bullet casting companies, but since that doesn't seem to stop some people from promoting their products here without being paid sponsors of the forum, I'd like to point out that if you do some price comparisons, you'll see who really has the better prices and selection across the board.

Bullet Casters and others advertising

Well, I certainly have no problem with you guys who sell bullets jumping in here and explaining what's going on. It's easy to jump to conclusions on prices in the firearms market (bullets include) being whipsawed in economic turmoil. Anybody who's purchased gasoline in recent past is kind of suspicious :scrutiny:of prices.

I think it's refreshing and informative for you producers to jump in here and provide information. We all want you guys to succeed - our interests are tied together. I've said it before - given any choices, I'd far prefer to buy from "small business." I see a big difference between dialogue and advertising.

As Red Green would say: "Keep your stick on the ice. We're all in this together. I'm pulling for you."

Yep, your onto it, the base metal prices have hit the floor, and then some, for many months now.
But theres plenty of room for price gudging in the recent buying frenzy.

Floppy - Shipped?

I just looked - I don't think the $44 you're looking at is "shipped." I looked at the "shipping and policies" page and I think you need to add $10 for shipping, unless I read the entire thing incorrectly.

I thought I was wrong once, but it turned out, I was mistaken.

...without being paid sponsors of the forum...
There are no paid sponsors on this forum.

The general rule seems to be that if your posts don't qualify as spam then you're welcome to post about your products & prices on THR. Not that I have any official word on the matter, that's just my observation.

You're right, I read "Shipping Insurance Included in Bullet Pricing" as "Shipping included in Bullet Pricing." Sorry for the confusion. :)
