Are pistols the only type of firearm you can CCW?

Can't you CCW a short barrel rifle or shotgun? Machine pistol? Or anything else? What about an M203 grenade launcher? :what:

It depends on the State in which you reside or in which you are legally carrying. For instance, in TN, the CCW permit is a Handgun Carry Permit. Therefore, nothing besides a handgun is allowed. However, in FL, the CCW permit is a Concealed Weapons Permit, which means you can, feasibly, carry a concealed rifle or shotgun.

According to PA Code 18 Ch 61A §6102 and §6106, the following are ok to carry : pistols/revolvers with a barrel less than 15 inches, rifles with a barrel under 16 inches, and shotguns with a barrel under 18 inches. Or any pistol, revolver, rifle or shotgun with an overall length of less than 26 inches.

Ergo, aside from pistols, ONLY SBR's and shorty shotguns are legal to CCW or carry loaded in your vehicle (with license).

Edit : This is PA's LTCF.

Fla's permit is a weapon permit. If it's legal you can carry it, if you can stand the scrutiny. I've always fancied one of those super Shortys

As was said above, depends on state law. Indiana only requires a license to carry a pistol, no license required to carry a rifle, shotgun, or machine pistol about, concealed or otherwise.

Of course, as Clint Smith sez, you're going to get "some looks" in the produce section with a rifle slung over your shoulder. "Magazine and ammo check, aisle 11." :D

I knew a guy in AZ who once carried, in addition to several pistols and revolvers, an AK clone with 75 round drum and 37mm flare launcher under a large leather trench coat. Legal. Another buddy carried his MAC13 in an SMZ shoulder rig. Legal. Come to Free AZ.

I just looked at mine...

 , yeah I had to look, but so what. Only concealed pistols with a license here. In Texas you don't need a license to carry a rifle/shotgun loaded or not, locked or not, or in plain view or not(in your vehicle that is and yes bikes count :what: , but you probably wouldn't get too far before the phone calls). :D

Is there a comprehensive list of what each state allows and doesn't allow? I'd be interested in looking at that.

In Texas, you can also carry lawfully-owned (i.e., registered in the NFRTR) NFA items without a license. I suppose it might be possible to conceal a Serbu Super-Shorty.

Just be sure to avoid the "Places Weapons Prohibited" (Texas Penal Code § 46.03). :barf:

What can you carry concealed in Michigan? I couldn't find anything in packing.org.

My Texas license says on the top "Concealed Handgun License".

Under Category = SA ...meaning "all handguns whether semi-auto or not".

Can't remember what the law says, but the license appears to be pretty specific.

I always thought a full-auto MAC-10 would make a fine defense weapon.

Here in Az, if it's legal to own, it's legal to CCW... BUT it has to be holstered and a sling is NOT a holster!

I will make a holster for my AR15...
