Every shop around here that sells reloading supplies tells me they are ordering but they are not receiving any reloading supplies. Guess reloaders are pretty low on the chain, but it sure would be nice to see some bullets show up before hunting season. I've got powder, primers and brass, but I haven't been able to find any 55gr Hornady .223 V-Max or 6mm Sierra 100gr. BT's (1560) bullets anywhere locally or online. I can understand the shortage of the .223 bullets, but why are the 6mm Sierra bullets so scarce?

How about these?

22 cal (.224") 55 gr Hornady SP W/C $620 / 6000 (free shipping) - http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8950&dir=278|281|1081|1141

6MM {.243} 105gr HPBT {Custon Competition} $53.65 / 250 - http://www.wideners.com/itemdetail.cfm?item_id=8911&dir=278|281|1079|1086|1540

Like you noticed, even bullets from calibers that aren't as popular as others are hard to find. I think it's because bullet makers are focusing their efforts on the more popular calibers needed by law enforcement and military, and what's left is being bought up by.....us. Maybe the 6mm bullets have all been bought up, and Sierra is lagging behind on them, instead producing more popular caliber bullets. Did I just say the same thing twice?

BDS,

Thanks for the links but the only bullets listed that I would use for deer hunting would be the 100gr Partitions. I have tried using the Hornady 22 cal w/C and they shoot like crap in both my .223 bolt actions. The only thing I could use them for was my mini 14 and I don't shoot it very much. I've been looking for the 100gr Sierra bullets as they are about the only bullets I have had much success with in a Remington 788 in 6mm. I've developed a load that shoots 1" groups all day long as long as I do my part. Trouble is I only have about a dozen of them left. Thanks again for the links.

If I owned Sierra I would probably do the same. Guess I can always hunt with something else this year if none show up by October.

powdervalley has had several significant bullet shipments, aim had mil 308 ammo for a while, had and still has 30 round ar mags for $11, a couple small gun shops near me have most pistol powders i'd want(hp38, win231, bullseye, unique, win296, h110). primers every so often. They havent changed their prices much since things got stupid but ill hold off at $24/lb and $40/k primers. I got spoiled by PV's $19.60/k tula primers and $16/lb hp38. I didnt get caught short, I have enough ammo for 6 months of weekly rangetime and components for another 6 months. I havent bought anything firearms related since november. ill hold off until the gougers do

Shops around here are getting harder and harder to find things. I think all the panic sent people way out of the way and dried up the shops around here. But non of the shops are raising prices at all, not even a penny. Bought a 1lb of H380 19.99. 1lb of Varget 24.99( I bought the only 2 on the self, when I was down home for my buddies wedding this past weekend)

Bullets seem to be hard to find still. I can get primers and powder pretty consistently now.

nothing in NY. ....it is getting worse here not better.

we have an NY ammo background check system going on line 1/1/2014 and this is driving current demand for ammo and component supplies to extremes....

This system is effectively a gun registry since your ammo purchase information will be forwarded to local police who will be instructed to compare it to any permit information on file and act upon it if mis-matches occur.

So for example, if you have not registered your AW and you buy 223 Remington ammo, you should expect a swat team to smash your door down.

There are challenges to the new NY law in courts now. Unfortunately, the judges are seeing that the cases are stalled in the courts and they will insure that any challenges will ultimately take many many years to resolve.

Stuff is starting to trickle in. None of the common places I buy from is fully stocked, but there are some supplies on the shelves.

To answer the question....Yes.
I haven't seen anyplace stocked like they used to be, but more and more places ARE getting some inventory. It's not gonna change over night, it will be a slow process, but it is turning the corner from my observations.

Here in my part of the Lone Star State, powder is sometimes available. Primers are still as scarce as hen's teeth. Lucked into some from a friend the other day, so I'm good for now. Bullets are still a problem, especially 223 & 30 cal. I do have a limited stock of both.

Have you added your email to a "notify me" @ Midway, Graffs or others?
They will probably limit your order to 2 boxes, but it's worked for me. (like the Sierra .223 partition or Starline 7.62X25 brass) - of course then you buy something else to help eat the shipping.
Since Cabela's in KC started limiting reloading purchases also, they've had supplies in off an on -but you gotta be there.

Yes. Today I scored some 147gr gold dots, 200gr 308 hot cores, and some 200gr 338s.

The die section was stocked with just about everything, no 338 lapua :(, had about 40 lbs of assorted powders, nothing I needed heh.

Much better then a month ago.

Sent from my CZ85 Combat

I imagine gun shops and anyone else selling ammunition, in Pennsylvania anywhere near the New York border are still going to sell to anyone who just walks in and has the money. Are they planning on having border guards around NY state to check cars for unregistered ammo? Maybe I just don’t get what the state hopes to accomplish. Maybe just drive the LGSs in NY out of business.

^^^^^ They are trying to demonize the law abiding gun owner. Make it harder to get supplies and equipment and some will just give up or move to a more gun friendly area of the US. Others will get tripped up in problems related to nonsensical laws and become examples of "bad gunowners".:banghead: I really feel sorry for the upstate firearms owners that have to put up with what the NYC area politicians dish out. This crap has to be stopped now!

Maybe Bloomberg et all will have a stroke if there is MASSIVE non compliance with the new laws. It would choke the legal system to a halt.:D

I was cruising through Midway's reloading section yesterday and was surprised at what was in stock. Not much mainstream stuff like 22 cal, 30 cal, etc. but some items that have been out of stock were on hand.

Of course, Midway has been limiting quantities that one can buy and that helps.

I have been able to find primers locally when I need them here of late, but you are going to pay for them @ $36/k. Seems that my go to places have also had a good assortment of powders also. Bullets are hard to find still. I ran across 7 100ct boxes of Hornady 55gr V-Max yesterday at a local gun shop. He also had .30 cal, .243, .40 cal, and some .45 cal bullets in 100ct boxes. I just keep my email notification on at TJ's for pistol bullets. I have been lucky enough to pick up 4,000 .40cal bullets over the last month.

How about 50 gr Hornady V-Max?

.22 Cal (.224") 50 Grain V-Max $19.99 / 100 - http://www.cabelas.com/product/Shoo...Rprd705499&WTz_l=SBC;BRprd705499;cat104275080
I stopped by Cabelas this afternoon and they had just received a shipment of powder and a few boxes of bullets. They had 2 boxes of 50gr V-max so I'll give them a try. I also picked up a couple of boxes of moly coated 55gr V-max in case it turns out taking a long time to find the ones I prefer. Thanks for all your help.

I think you'll be able to find a good load with the 50gr. I use a lot of Z-Max, I find the 50gr shoot just the same if you up your charge just a hair. Like with Varget I tend to run 26.5gr with a 50gr ZMax and 26.2gr with a 55gr ZMax, same POI at 100yards.

My local shop has a decent variety of Sierra and Hornady bullets. They have had the common primers except large pistol for the last couple months. Powder and brass are scarce.
