Are Rem 700 and Weatherby Vanguard scope Bases the same?


everywhere I look it says
Rem700/wthby Vanguard

so are they the same can I buy one or the other to fit a Vanguard long action it’s a 300 weatherby so I think it’s just a standard long action

I think the answer is "yes, sometimes"

@BigBL87 went thru the same thing a while back, and found there was enough differences in height he couldn't use 700s on his (if I'm remembering correctly).
I'm 99% sure I used them on the .270 I had for a week or two, with no issues (again IF I remember correctly).

That's correct. The height difference was in the rear base I believe, hundredths of an inch but it makes a difference. I was shooting about 8 inches low at 50 yards with the elevation maxed out. The bases I had were the Warne 2 piece set. I ended up ordering one of the DNZ Game Reaper mounts. Haven't been able shot it yet to confirm that was the issue, but based on research that seems to be the culprit.

Thanks Gents for all the comments I just ordered a leupold back country Base I have the Vortex rings already so I should be in good shape!

One piece bases are definitely different. I have Vanguards and a 700, they have the same Warne Maxima two piece bases on them and work fine.

One piece bases are different only on short actions. The 2 piece bases are interchangeable as are 1 piece bases on long actions.
