Are S&W M&P (the revolver) CA legal?

Possible move back to California and I cannot tell if my Victory would be legal there. On the CA DOJ list it lists 'S&W 10-14', which I assume includes the model 10, which is what the civilian version of the victory is. Also, on the DOJ site it lists it as .38 special while mine fires .38 S&W. I dont know if they split hairs that much but the list kinda sucks.

The CA DOJ list really only applies to new sales; possession isn't limited to guns on the list.

The DOJ site addresses this question (http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/pubfaqs.php#24):

I am moving into California and I own several handguns. What are the new-resident registration requirements?

You are considered to be a personal handgun importer as defined by California law. You may bring all of your otherwise California-legal firearms with you, but you must report all of your handguns to the DOJ within 60 days as required utilizing the New Resident Handgun Ownership Report. [PDF 518 kb / 2 pg] You are not required to report rifles or shotguns. You may not bring ammunition feeding devices with a capacity greater than ten rounds, machineguns, or assault weapons into California.

In this context "California-legal" doesn't mean "on the list", it just means no "assault weapons, machine guns, hi-cap magazines". Of course, if I were you, I wouldn't believe me, I'd call the DOJ.

No I believe you. That's a relief. Will have to get the 10 round M1 Carbine mags instead though (ugh).

The Dems just want those nasty criminal Mexican illegals to vote and get all the social services, they don't want them to have guns. Hence CA's "very innovative" gun laws.
