Benchrest short yardage is about weight. IBS you have the Unlimited, Heavy is no more than 13 1/2 lbs,Light is no more than 10 1/2lbs and Sporter is same weight as light rifle.
You can take Light rifle shoot it in Heavy/Unlimited same as Heavy in Unlimited but you can't tale Heavy/Unlimited and shot it in Light rifle.
The Heavy is where you see the longer barrels. When I first started BR I shot my light rifle in Heavy then I got Heavy rifle.
