are SKS stocks interchangeable?

I've had an SKS for awhile, Yugo if I recall. Some years ago I got an aftermarket stock for it, and after the last move I don't have the original stock anymore. I'd like to put it back on a wooden stock again. If I get one off eBay or whatever, does it matter if it is Chinese, or Yugo, or anything like that?

Sort of. I have two Norinco's, the stocks do not exactly fit eachother. I put a Russian action in to a supposed Polish stock and it didn't exactly fit either.

The problem was always the position of the forearm crossbolt and how that bolt fits against the recoil lug. It can be made to fit if you're willing to do some tooling on either or both the front end of the stock or the crossbolt itself.

In any case, if you have a Yugo, I'd stick with another Yugo stock and hope for the best.
