One of my young employees is looking to buy a Sigma. He has a line on a real good deal. I am doing some research for him.

Is the Sigma a true DAO in the sense that the striker can be fully cycled back and then dry fired repeatedly without racking the slide? Or is it like the Glock action and one has to rack the slide to reset?

The reason I ask is that with that long hard trigger pull, dry firing (maybe even with a laser to watch point of aim) would be good way to practice.

Please, I know lot's of people are not fans of Sigmas so I don't need those comments. I have made many other recommendations but I do think that a DAO is a good safe choice for a new gun owner with medium experience.

Yes. It uses a semi-cocked striker like the Glock, requiring the action of the slide - either by racking it or firing a cartridge - to reset the striker and trigger mechanism.

I had a SW9VE and it was a good gun for the money. I upgraded to a S&W 5906 but the sigma is a good gun for the money.

Sigmas operate in the same manner as Glocks.

If thats not your friend's cup to tea, yall could consider something with double/single action. My Ruger P95 comes to mind.
