2 mentions of the Ruger P90. My Ruger P97 is the softest shooting 45 I own. Its easier on my hand than my P90 or P345. I also own an SR1911, and an FNX-45. My vote for fun is the Ruger P97.

I don't know if the OP is gone or on vacation, but if he returns he should read this:

Am I the only one who caught this? He has a WW2 R-R that has only had a "couple Dozen " rounds put through it????

You shouldn't be shooting it at all!!!! It is near new and seventy year old military pistols that are near new have collector value. Lots of collector value! Of course, it is your gun and you can do whatever you want with it, but if you take it to a smith to modify he might refuse, and repeat what I just told you.

It is a priceless piece of history. If you must shoot it, then shoot it, but please don't modify it.

Yea, he shouldn't be shooting that gun at all if it's what he says it is.

Shot a couple boxes of 230 gr thru a rental M&P 45 FS at the range the other day and to me the recoil wasn't much beyond a 9mm.

As others have stated try reloads and get someone knowledgeable to check out your grip, etc. I use 200g LSWC for target shooting with a charge just above or at minimum, depending on the reloading manual you are using. I find the recoil quite a bit less than full power loads with 230g bullets.
