With the AWB gone, I'm wondering if there are any wondernines out there with 20+1 magazine capacity? Excluding weapons such as the TEC-9 and the full capacity 30+ magazines that don't fit flush (haven't seen any with more than 17 rounds) Does such a gun exist?

I think 18 is about the max for a flush fit mag. The Glock 17 is 17 +1. I thought the Steyr GB was 17+1 as well, but if it is indeed 18+1, then that's the highest I've heard.

Some flush-fit CZ 75 mags will hold 16. It depends on the follower. CZ is coming out with a 18 round 75 mag for a new competition version of the 75, but I believe it extends out a little with a basepad.

FN Five-seveN holds 20 with a flush mag, IIRC. It's hard to think of any wondernines that actually hold 20 with a flush mag, though Glock and Steyr come close. There just doesn't seem to be enough room there for 20 rounds of 9x19.

With flush-fitting mags, the most you'll get in 9mm is a Steyr GB or H&K VP70Z (18 rounds), or a Glock 17 (17 rounds)....unless there's a 1911 widebody race gun in 9mm out there that can hold more.

Thanks for all your replies, folks. I guess such a beast does not exist yet. It would be great to have that kind of capacity in a reasonably sized 9mm, though.

Sure, Stephen.. but then someone could come and say a 25+ would be nice.. where do we draw the line.. FWIW, the new Beretta PX4 will carry flush fitting 20 round mags..
;)

The new CZ SP01, a full size steel duty pistol, comes standard with an 18 round magazine, with a base plate that does stick out a little, like a custom bumper. However, Angus Hobdell, CZ's company shooter, is almost ready to market a kit that converts it to 19 rounds safely, with perfect functioning. Add the one up the spout, and there is your 20.
The SP01 will come in both a decocker and a safety varient, and the first shipment is on the way.

Para makes an 18+1 double stack 1911. With Dawson base pads it should get at least 23 in there. My Para .40 gets 21 in the make with extended basepads.

Given that cartridge size didn't change when the ban ended, you're still stuck with the fact that you can only put so many rounds in the space of a gun's grip -- and still hold the gun.

If you want more than 15 - 17 (in a flush-fit), you've got to have a longer grip or a fatter one, either of which presents its own problems.
