So...
After finally resolving the "FMJ's not-allowed" issue keeping me from sighting in my K31's at my local range with some expensive new ammo, I traipse all the way out there again, only to find that ".30 cal's and above not-allowed" now :fire: At least the guys working there were smart enough to know 7.5 Swiss is a 30cal. Too bad they aren't smart enough to keep some fool from popping a round off over the berm

Seems somebody's house got struck with a bullet in February (I've personally seen some guy pass his AR "pistol" off to his sweet thing, who promptly "flinched-fired" three rapid rounds in random trajectories that appeared to go over the berm:what:. No RO's raised a fuss, but everyone nearby sure did :barf:), and this, in conjunction with the previously ongoing lawsuit (source of the FMJ ban), caused the owners (or insurance company) to pucker even tighter. The owner said they were planning to raise the berm to resolve these issues, but the local gov't won't give them permits for construction (sound familiar?) :cuss: Who gave (and why?) the housing developer permits to build houses within 3000ft of the berm, I wonder? :scrutiny:

Since Garland Public Gun Range is apparently being driven out of business, I need to start looking for an alternative (better?) range in East Dallas. I've found a couple indoor pistol ranges, but have not located an outdoor rifle range of 100yds or more, available to the general public (I don't shoot often enough to justify a membership). Preferably within 30 miles of Rockwall.

Thanks for any suggestions, and sorry for the rant...

Try Gibsons Outpost. I think its off HWY 80 and Lawson road exit. But be warned I've heard of some people having trouble out of the owners/employees. I have been once and didn't have any trouble.

Gibson's might work, hopefully they're not so stupid-crowded all the time, either. Looks like it's much farther away from urban encroachment too, from the sat photos. I'll check it out tomorrow, I've never tooled around the Forney area before :)

edit: OMG THEY ALLOW FMJ TOO!!!!!!!:D:D

(I kinda want to explore that giant greenbelt behind their berm, now...)
