Are you excited for the Glock 43?

The only advantages over the Walther are a push button mag release,

I would not count that an advantage at all. Objectively the paddle release seems like a better design.

I'd really like to get some side by side quality time with the shield, G43, and PPS. If nothing else the G43 seems to have pushed the PPS's price down.

I wonder how many people realize that the SCCY CPX-2 is smaller and lighter than the Glock 43, is about the same width, holds 10+1 rounds and only costs $220.00

Since not many people have heard of this gun or the company that makes it, or have ever seen it, the answer would be...Not many!

A guy I know was #1 on the waiting list at our LGS for a 43 and he went over on Sat. to pick it up. Came home with a Kimber Solo instead. The 43 is too big to just have a 6 round mag.

I was reading where the G43 was for pocket carry. I am quite sure there will be those who carry it in their pocket with no holster, which means if it's cocked someone will be shooting off their pecker. I have read years ago of that happening with the baby Glocks, so I'm sure it will happen with the G43. Accidents like that give the anti-gunners more ammo to take away guns.

Anybody stupid enough to pocket carry any pistol without a holster that covers the trigger guard deserves to have their pecker shot off so they won't pass along the stupid genes.

The Solo was too unreliable for me to even consider carrying and yes, I used the recommended ammo.

jimbo, for some, the 26 is too fat. The "little bit thinner" makes a difference.
True.

For summer carry in hot Texas weather, I intend on getting a 43 to replace my J 640 Centennial (but that J stays with me... had it a long time.)

For when I can wear a light jacket or such, I use my 26.

Only if there is real trouble brewing would I go to my Glock 31, but then I'd have a long gun to.

I'd rather have a glock 26 myself based on capacity. I think it fills a market niche and they will sell a lot of them. People want, need choices so I am glad it exists.

I got to hold a "spoken for" Glock 43 at a local gunstore on Saturday. I'm getting more excited about it now. It solves the problem I had with the Xds, LC9s, PPS,. . . . where my thumb knuckle hits the frame, causing it to ride the slide release not allowing a hold open on the last round. It also felt better in the hand than the Shield did [for me]. The trigger was. . . . a Glock trigger, but quite fine for a carry gun. :)

Now, I just need to get one to buy so I can get some range time. If that goes well, I'll up the emoticon to --> :D

Isn't Glock a little "late to the gate", so to speak? I think so. I have the Ruger LC9s and I can't imagine the G43 being a better pistol. :neener:

It would appear that you have a very limited imagination. Apparently Glock chose to compromise between size and shootability and went with the more practical gun, while Ruger sacrificed shootability for size. Seemed to work out well for Glock with the G42! The market will decide if that was the correct decision. ;)

In talking with Glock, the design focus was similar to the G42 in that they were not striving to make the smallest gun possible, but more specifically the smallest gun people could still shoot well.

The smaller Kahr CM9 and Ruger LC9 9mm pistols can be handfuls to shoot with hot 9mm rounds, so the size of the Glock G43 and Walther PPS makes more practical sense with more shootable comfort.

Capt. Obvious, for many on here, the Glock 43 IS "late to the gate". And many have chosen [and become comfortable with] another brand and are content to run with it. For me, on the other hand, I think the Glock 43 will be MY "best option". When I held it at the gunstore, I felt as though it will be one I will keep for a long time. Just have to wait about getting one [at a good price] and taking it to the range. So really, in a way, the Glock 43 HAS been "late to the gate", but at least it is here now and maybe my long search will be over. I hope so. I've gone through [and shot] many options.

XDs
Shield
Solo
LC9s
P938
EMP

Handled:
PPS
Nano
Bersa BP9
P290

You name it, I've either handled it or shot it. I'd really like to be done with this search. But I'm glad that the LC9s works for you. I like it enough, but it just isn't the one for me. If the Glock 43 had never come out, I suppose the LC9s would have been the next choice. Very nice trigger on it. :)

If Glock wants to get my attention and more of my money they're going to have to FINALLY make a pistol carbine that you can use they're existing Glock magazines in. Something similar to the Beretta CX4 Storm carbine that Beretta made. They got the pistol market covered with just about any caliber you desire. I think a well designed pistol carbine would sell well for them.

Kind of like the Kriss Vector? Or are you just wanting to support glock?

8472,

Mech Tech has created a carbine styled barrel for certain Glock models. Hickok45 did a video on this.
