We all think about the "dream" rifle that we wish we could own and shoot. Perfect caliber, manufacturer, configuration, etc.

Maybe I aim a little lower than some, but I took out my SAKO Finnlight in 6.5 X 55 to the range the other day. It is topped with a Leupold Compact 3 X 9 SS scope. Lightweight, accurate, effective, durable, reliable, and beautiful.

There is not any other rifle I would want above this one.

How many of you are lucky enough to own your own dream rifle?

You're lucky. Blessed even.

Problem with me is, every time I get that "dream rifle/handgun/shottie", I get a new dream.:what:

I am blessed with a few "dream" guns, which I love, but don't shoot nearly enough.:(

I own a compromise dream rifle. I don't have the money to build what I want, so I went low cost. It took some time but I got it done and am very happy with it.

I started with a $169.00 Weatherby Vanguard in .270 (it was marked way down at Wal-Mart when they stopped carrying them).

I added a Timney trigger, Leupold base and rings, a Sightron SII (3-9x42) scope and a Bell & Carlson Medalist stock (full aluminum bedding).

It's darn accurate, nice and heavy (I like heavy, easier to hold steady for me) and a good looking rifle.

My dream rifle would be a Jarrett custom built from the ground up. He's right down the road from me and his rifles are (in my opinion) the best there are.

I guess you could say I have my dream production rifle, a Cooper Custom Classic in 17HMR, although there are some things I would change.

Now, my dream custom rifle, that I'll never be able to afford!

I reckon I'm pretty lucky, becuase I just bought the rifle I dreamed of in a Tikka .270 WSM, in walnut and blued, when it came in, the stock looked custom fancy grade....like this.... P4250247.jpg and then I also get to shoot my dad's custom .257 Roberts built on a 98 Bruno Mauser action, with a McMillan barrel, and Timney trigger....not a great stock but pretty nice still....super gun....

 Wow. :)

My dream rifle is something that'll cost about $6000 to build, and that's without any profit by the builder. :(

Newly manufactured Mosin-Nagant action, bent bolt
3.5-lb. trigger with stop
.375 H&H, staggered internal mag set up to take custom 5-round stripper clips
Heavy tapered 26" barrel, 1.54" at the chamber to .752" at the muzzle
Receiver-mounted 45 deg. offset Picatinny rail on left side of receiver
Black composite Monte Carlo stock with Knoxx-style recoil reducer
Glock Tenifer coating on all exterior surfaces, hard chrome all interior surfaces

Tactical, fancy, classic, powerful, Safari-worthy, hi-tech, simple... and insane. :D I wonder if it could even be done... :uhoh:

Until then, I'll dream of a Springfield Armory M1A Scout with a walnut stock. :)

I'm with Eat Beef on this one

Every time I get that “dream rifle” I start dreaming up another one. The one that I have that best matches your description is my Weatherby Ultra Light Weight in 30-06 topped with a 2-10 Lepould scope. That rifle has gone everywhere and shot damn near every type of game. Rifle and scope weigh a little under 7 pounds unloaded, so it is a pleasure to carry in the woods or mountains.

nope ... don't own my "dream" rifle and if I ever get it (for at least the next 5 minutes it will be the FS2000) then I will start dreaming about another rifle. :D

vicious cycle indeed :neener:

Yeah, but it wasn't all that big a dream. I had wanted a M7 stainless Remington since it came out and won a BDL in .25-06 as a door prize raffle at a local gun show. I traded that door prize for a slightly used Remington M7 Stainless and it's a tack driver. I wanted it in .308 and that's what I got. Added a 2x10x40 Weaver and I have not taken another rifle out of the rack for hunting since. It does it all for what I need a rifle for. All these short action magnums have come out since, but they don't give me the wants for some reason. I don't know, I just don't NEED any more than that .308 has for the hunting I do. It's ultra accurate and ideal for most Texas and New Mexico hunting. It's accurate, it's rugged, it's light to tote in the mountains, it's short and handy in a box blind. It's everything I'd wanted in a big game rifle. I do have a 7 mag, but I like the .308 for most stuff.

Gun? or Guns?

I like to think I'm getting close to my dream gun collection.

I already have my Cooper 223 AI varmint gun.

Next was my HS Precision .260 Remington.

Both are left handed and built to my specifications.

I still have a few left on my list, 243 AI and 30 cal bolt action, but I've been in a pistol mode lately. The Ed Brown should be here early July.

I think my absolute dream rifle would be a Dakota Model 10 with exhibition grade bastogne walnut and lots of engraving. Caliber has yet to be decided. Now if I could just find that extra $10k that I hid away....

All my life...

...I've wanted a Winchester M-70 Featherweight, I just couldn't quite decide what caliber to get. Recently I bought one in .25WSSM and it's all I hoped it'd be, light, accurate & beautious...

...I've also always wanted a M-12, and finally bought a NIB special edition (1994 run) a few years ago, so I guess I can die happy now...

I am lucky enough to have a pre 64 mod 70 chambered to ( what else ) 30-06 i guess for the USA i could not ask more out of a rifle than it will deliver . Well till ya get to .50 chit that i couldnt afford to shoot anyway lol

I keep having new dream guns.

Last one was a mag fed lightweight bolt gun in 50 bmg. (got that...)

Current one is a mini vulcan in 308. (still working on that one....  )

Next one after that will be the Metalstorm system. 1,000,000 rounds a minute.....gotta learn how to reload for that dream to come true.

Almost.

My actual dream rifle is an M21 or just a highly accurate M14 made from USGI parts. However, I have a CMP Springfield Garand that was rebuilt and converted to .308 by Deans Gun Restorations. It's all USGI but the Barnet barrel and aftermarket stock, it's very accurate and very fun to shoot. The only thing I yearn for is the ability to mount optics.

Recently bought my dream rifle - an FN-FAL, albeit in kit form and, as yet, no upper receiver. I've wanted my own ever since I was a "troop" in the South African Defence Force.

My dream rifle is an M3HB. At least it isn't Class III, that's the only good thing about it ;)

Does the Armat M41A pulse rifle with 10mm caseless ammo and underslung grenade launcher from Aliens count????
