Are you lucky enough to own your "dream" rifle?

No, because happy switches are hard to come by since 86. I would love a full auto AK. The AK just isnt complete until it is full auto. Not enough skrilla though. I really wish we could kill or at least poke some holes in the 86 ban.

But soon I will have a very close second to the dream.
On the way:
-an olympic arms flattop 45 upper
-cav arms mkII lower
-heavy buffer
-grease gun adaptor
...and then the upper goes off to SRT to get an integral can.

So basically a modern EBR variation on the De Lisle carbine of yore. The only thing that could make it better would be a happy switch, but I am pretty sure there are no pre-86 happy switch cav arms lowers.

I would love to have a Win 1885 in 45/90, a Rem Rolling block in 45/70, a 1956 1894 saddle ring carbine with a button mag, an AR15 slabside with a Ace tube stock and carbon fibre tube foreend and 18' midlength lightweight barrel, a Win classic compact model 70 in 358 and 22-250.
Just a few dreams out there.

YES I am!! I drempt of a .50 cal rifle since 11th grade. This summer I have one year of college in, and a job that has allowed me enough dough to get my dream rifle.
any one who thinks a .50bmg is too much hasn't shot one. I love it. this weekend I was playing with my 30-06, and it just seems like a toy

In a word no, I don't own my dream rifle. Of course there are too many dreams and not enough money. I am however greatly pleased to see that so many folks do have their dream rifles and moreover the dreams of many of you are causing me to rethink what "dreamworthy" really means. Nice stuff!

I have the same problem that plagues so many here. The dream rifle the proverbial itch you can't scratch; each time you try, it mutates into a different type of itch that becomes progressively harder to scratch. My original dream was simple: A traditional wood/blue 700 BDL in .25-06 with a Leupold 4.5-14x 40mm. I managed that one on my 18th birthday, and it was immediately replaced by another. And another, and another. My last purchase was an AR-50 and so far (3 months later), I am still itch-free in the rifle department (unless someone builds an overgrown AR in .375 RUM or .338 Lapua/RUM).

BTW, just because I don't have a current "dream rifle" goal does not mean there aren't several on my short list.

I'm lucky, but then again, I never dreamed that big...

Sometimes, it's good to realize you've got all you need. I'd like an AI, or a GAP, or a Barrett, or a Cooper or Kimber, but that M1A has been what I've ALWAYS wanted, and it's all I reckon I need.

My dream rifle is one of the ones below.
(In order, top to bottom, in .308 or 7mm08):

Browning A-bolt.
Tikka T3.
Rem Mod 7.

Don't own it yet, but...

My dream rifle doesn't exsist becuase no one makes a magazine fed .357 Magnum Semi-auto carbine.

I have a Marlin 1894C, and it's is good fun. but 10, 15, or 20 rounds of .357? That's hot.

My "dream rifle" is a fine double barrel Express rifle, stocked to suit me, in .475 No. 2.

And I'd put my dream rifle to work on a 100 lb per side elephant . . . after warming up on rhino.

Not. Going. To. Happen.

I have a friend in my hometown who specializes in Mauser actions and wildcat rounds. His favorite is a .22 cheetah, which, for those of you who might not know, is a .308 necked down to a .22. He prefers 55 grain bullets. Hopefully, I will have a little cash before he quits or dies, I want him to build me a Mauser in .22 cheetah, personalized fitted walnut stock, 1" stainless shilen barrel, etc. And when we've got it just perfect, I'll have him build the same rifle in .243, .308, 25-06, 30-06, and maybe a .338 lapua or .300 win mag.

I have my kimber, I'd like to come across a 6" python, maybe one day I'll talk myself into needing a really pretty over and under instead of using my Remington pump for everything, other than that, I think I'm done.

Heh--I agree with many others...what is "a" dream rifle. Now, if the question is "do you have any of your dream rifles?" then yes, a couple.

Unfortunatly my dream rifle costs more than most homes.

Dunno. Maybe it's because I'm older and been exposed to a lot of "stuff"

I really thought I'd want one of every range of caliber. Nice rifles that would be accurate and functional. I've reached that point. Without getting into boring detail, let's just say I've got everything covered from mice to elephants

You finally figure out that a 180 grain from a 30-06 kills an elk just as well as a super exotic short-fat-non-belted magnum

That an off the shelf Bushmaster .223 Varminter shoots far, far better than I can typically hold

You can only use one rifle at a time

Fancy engraving and wood just makes you reluctant to use the rifle as a tool instead of keeping it a pristine work of art

I've got twice as many guns that I haven't shot in the last 5 years as ones that I have

Full auto is great for turning money into noise, but they're totally useless IMO. Fireworks are cheaper if you just want to hear lots of "bangs".

My dream is to put 5 rounds into the same hole at 1000 yards.

Don't want to be a thread killer, but my suggestion is to buy a reloading press (if you don't have one) and shoot the crap out of what you have. After having bought dozens of "dream" rifles, using and being good with what you have is more important. YMMV

HOOOOLLY CRAP that's beautiful...What something like that cost?

The H&H Royal Ejector in the picture would sell for 150K - 200K I have seen some over 250K. I would settle for a plain jane H&H for about 35K. I dream big. :)

Does the M79 count as a rifle? I want one so bad.

Along with a case of HE rounds, of course.

Barrett M99-1
Shiloh-Sharps .45-70
Rock River Armory AR-15
A really accurate bolt gun in .308 and one in .223 made by a custom gunsmith.
