I bought most of stuff I "need" right before the election.

I have a bought a lot of guns and ammo lately, but not so much because I'm worried about Obama, but because I'm lousy with money and have been blowing through an inheritance, and if I'm gonna waste money, at least I can get most of it back later on by selling them later on if I needed to.

Ammo is more of concern for me though, and I have at least 200 rounds for every gun I own with the exception of .30-30, which isn't as important to me since it's more expensive than 7.62x39mm and has similar ballistics.

For my "SHTF" stuff, I have about 1600 rds and 14 mags for my AK, 1100rds of 9mm for my glock 17 and 5 mags (3 33 rounders), about 150 slugs/buck for my 590, 2500 .22lr, and 225rds of .30-06 for a Win 670 and M1 garand, with another 900 of greek surplus on the way from CMP.

Considering that I don't shoot that much, I'm confident that I've got enough ammo to last quite sometime, whether there's any kind of ban or not, and that's good enough for me.

Yeah, I'm sitting on at least 300rds of 7.62 x 39 and at least 100 7.62 x 54r. And close if not over 3k rounds of .22 (mostly hv but enough hush hush to get the job done.

Would REALLY like an AR before it ain't possible but pigs are gonna have to fly first....

So....why are you people stocking up?
Who are you going to shoot your 3500 rounds at?

I never expected to see such a comment on this board. Then I noticed the post count. Norb, if you stay around long enough, you'll discover that 3500 rounds isn't really that much ammo. Next year at this time, tell us if you still believe stocking up isn't a good idea.

Oh yeah, the reason I'm stocking up whenever I can is because it already costs too much and it's only gonna get worse!

I voted with the minority. The guns I see most at risk are so called "Assault Weapons" or the "evil" black rifles. I don't think Obama is as big a threat as Biden is. But regardless I don't think a stockpile is necessary at this point due to fear of legislation. If he does anything it won't be right away. And if it is right away it will be AW's and nothing else right now. If he does anymore than that he'll get attacked so hard for making things worse on the economy by killing the gun business that he'll either have to back down or we'll see some massive legal actions by gun companies that will put a stop to it. Other than AW's the biggest thing I can see happening is a reduction in Mag capacity which would probably succeed in hacking me off but I think we've got plenty of time before then.

Oh by the way guys. Stop buying 9mm ammo.........geez. I stopped by cabelas today and all they had were 5 boxes of hornaday xtp and a few boxes of american eagle and magtech left. None of which I were looking for. Two whole rows completely cleaned out. Plenty of .40 and .45 still there. So I stop by dicks.....ball only. All the hydrashock cleaned out. The military hasn't cleaned out 9mm supplies nearly as bad as this.......

I stand to correct my self, the quote that I quoted, was quoted from seeing it at various other forums or boards. After doing research. Apparently there has no direct source to the quote, but is flooded over the internet. Referencing that Obama quote of course.

Yep.

I'm fairly well stocked but I am certainly looking at this situation from the perspective that it's time to buy what I will want (for the rest of my life) before something happens and it's too late.

That means no panic buying - but by the same token, I'm looking at S&W putting locks :fire:on revolvers :cuss: and concluding that I have to buy "used" or "ANIB" S&W firearms now since they started with the Hillary Hole nonsense.

Look at how they're steering away from lead in bullets - that's getting kinda close,:scrutiny: isn't it?

I don't see any point in waiting 'til it's too late and the REAL panic sets in.

Voting yes was about as accurate a choice as I could find.
I'm stocking up just because my collection/library isn't complete yet. I've been saving up extra cash, bit by bit over the years and buying my guns one or two at a time.:)

I did rearrange the list of guns so that my next few purchases will be firearms that I believe will be included on an AWB, and the sporting guns will have to wait.

Although, with the price structure being warped as it is today (sporting guns cheap & tactical/defense guns expensive) now should be the time to get that waterfowler 12ga. that I slid down on my list in order to get a good AR.

Dear lord. I take that much to the range with me, for one trip, at least for the x39. That much 54r might keep me for a session or two more.

Mike

I'm thinking of stocking up on Weatherby ammo and maybe taking a trip to Africa while it's cheap. AR's and accessories are more overinflated right now than mortgage backed securities were five years ago, so I figure I can sell my Olympic Arms plinker and a couple of 20 round mags and fund a safari with enough left over to buy half of lower Manhattan and a Bentley to cruise it in. :barf:

Do I need to have names or can I just want 3500 rounds?

friggin' classic!!!!

That one exchange actually sums up both sides of the argument quite nicely. FYI, the 2nd Amendment doesn't mention "needs". The needs are well established. Open a history book, or better yet, read the Federalist Papers.

Folks, even if you don't think that your gun ownership is at risk, at least get some ammo, 500-1k for each weapon. That way you won't be completely SOL if things go south.

I have not stocked up. In fact, I don't have enough of anything to hold ground, just enough to flee (maybe). Currently, I'm more worried about toilet paper, canned foods, and water.

May pickup a shotgun. Or a 10/22. Maybe a 223 semi-auto. Better yet a 30.06 or .308? See what happens?! The "creeps" sets in and before you know it you're dreaming of a .50 BMG. lol

Im buying ammo, mags, ammo, and mags, and yesterday I bought more ammo, and another mag for my trusty S&W 5906:evil: Bring it.

And ya 9 more 30 rounds AR mags are in the mail headed my way.:D:D

I am retired military, a survivalist and have been prepared for years. But, I have been buying more since the election. I have about 1500rounds of 9MM FMJ and 500 rounds of JHP and 2000 rds of .40 cal FMJ and 300 rds of JHP plus 500 rds of 12ga shot shells in assorted loads from #8 to 000 buck. I have other guns, but they are not for survival, mostly for plinking and nice to have conversation pieces.

I'm not stocking up because of Obama. I'm stocking up because the economy is in the crapper and I do not think my job is bullet proof. Dollars for education/teachers is scarcer than hen's teeth.

No. I am afraid they may take my guns away or put restriction on firearm transactions. I am selling my collections that I do not shoot anymore.

I'm already stocked up, been stocking ammo over the last year, didn't wait untill the last minute, to get raped on prices.:neener: I'm really glad I loaded up on 3000 rounds of Wolf 7.62x39, because now, good luck finding it and what you do find, is $6/20.:barf: I've been reloading 38 spl, 357 mag, and 40 S&W over the last year, got a huge stash of all that.:)

You can never have too much stock, whomever is in office, and whatever the economy is doing.
