I'm sure everyone saw the Veterans day sale that Arken ran last week, due to the marketing blitz: use the code "Salute" for $100 off.

I didn't pull the trigger last week because they were out of the SH4 4-16 Mil I wanted and only had 6-24. Anyway, if anyone was in the same boat I just wanted to post up that you can order both 4-16 models now and the code still works.

$299 with free shipping for a FFP variable optic with a decent Christmas tree reticle and good (maybe honest) reviews was too much for my curiosity, so I guess I'll find out if the hype was well founded. I'll probably put it on my 6mm ARC AR.

Thanks @Gtscotty ! I grabbed a 6-24.....been wanting to try one

Glad you were able to snag one, the 6-24 seems like the more popular and probably smarter choice since they are almost the exact same size/weight, but I've just had a hankering for a 4-16 lately. Did you pick up one of their mounts? I'm curious if they are any good, I don't have any 34mm mounts laying around, so I might try one.

I completely forgot to buy mounts, and ill need to do that. I have a set of their HALO rings on one of my rifles and ive been very happy with them. I can get the Riton/Contessa Rings from my ffl buddy for cheaper and i like those also, so might go that route, but another set of Arkens might well be on the list.

At the sale price they look like a very good value, and since they focus down to 25 yards, would be great on a .22 LR.
If i decide I dont like the Arken for some reason, it will be going on the .17 RPR.....stupid 30moa rail will make use of the adjustment range of the scope has lol.

I look through one at the gun range in about a month ago. I was very impressed. I believe the one I looked through was the 6-24, and up to about 16 x it was definitely better optics than my Weaver Grand slam. The image definitely degraded from 18 to 24 though. I hear the 4-16x is a significantly better scope. If it wasn't a first focal plane I would be all over that deal.

Got my SH4 6-24 in.
With what little ive done with it im quite happy. Optics are its weakest suit as far as i can tell, and they are still pretty bloody good. Everything else seems to be very good/excellent.

Im still at work waiting for something to mix, but when i get home ill run some tests and check it against my other scopes.

I still need rings and it will go on my 6.5 target gun.

Edit:
Compared it to my Athlon Argo HMR 4-20x50, Athlon Midas BTR (gen 1) 2-15x50, Meopta HTR 6.5-20, and Riton Conquer 5 5-25x50 (which is the closest to the same specs).

Optically the SH4s not quite as good as the Conquer and Meopta, in terms of overall image quality...IE it LOOKS nicer through the other two, but not by a lot.
Compared to the Athlons it's about the same or slightly better at equal powers.

While that might be damning with faint praise, that's still pretty bloody good optics. Coupled with the excellent turrets, reticle, and overall feel I think these are a great buy, especially when caught on sale.
