Arken Scopes comparison and testing (in progress)

I have some of the US Optics TS series and they're pretty comparable to the Arkens maybe a smidge better glass and mushy turrets by comparison but they are locking.

I like my ts12 as a set and forget, the squishy turrets do track well, but arnt particularly confidence inspiring. The glass tho is very nice for both the cost (paid 300, think they went back up tho) and its size.

Actually ill grab some pictures of the ts-12 this evening since my box is still in the yard.

Ok so I got Loonwulfs Arken EPL 4 scope in last week and checked it out compared to my vortex viper HS and I'm actually impressed to be honest! It was what seemed to my blind self, clearer by a fair bit view at high magnification range and looking at small text on a target. So my opinion is definitely changed on them. I thought they were over hyped China junk, but they are actually pretty decent, at least this exact scope, I could buy one myself and get a lemon, which I almost guarantee would happen in my case if y'all know my reloading misadventures...... I will look for an Arken on sale or something perhaps and try it out more. Oh yeah I shot 7 rounds out of my 6.5 prc and it stayed zeroed so I'll take that as a pass on the holding zero function. Tha is for lending it to me and I'll be shipping it back to ya on Saturday morning!

P.S. I forgot to add that this suffers from the same fatal flaw as my Vortex Viper HS, which is the Eye Box/relief is trash at mid to high magnification. If anyone knows of a scope that had a good eye box at high magnification I'd greatly appreciate it.
Thanks for giving us your thoughts on it!

Ts-12 pictures.

12 bout 10 mins difference in time, my phone died.

Dont know the powers of these but im assuming from ring position 8,6,3....ish.
The scope is so short that my phone adapter clamped onto the power ring.

And across the street

EDIT: THE PICTURES FROM THE TS-12 REALLY ARNT EVEN CLOSE TO HOW THE OPTIC LOOKS IN PERSON. ILL LEAVE THEM UP FOR NOW, BUT WHEN I HAVE A CHANCE ILL GO BACK AND TAKE NEW ONES.

The size of the TS12 is a stark contrast to the EP5 Arken lol.
The size is one of the great things about it, it's great glass in such a compact package. IMHO in addition to working nice on a DMR/SPR it would be very good for a light weight hunting hunting rig.

Yup! compact light, good optics, it fits great on the smaller rifles.
This one was my dad's birthday present last year for his hunting rifle. Its now riding around on "my" (really his) .17 RPR

Were gonna see if we can break the Sh4 with the m82cq my buddy just picked up........whenever we go to the range again......

In other news I have the 2-16x50 Forge on hand....things nice, real nice. Its also a brick, and effectively a hunting reticle stuck in a precision scope chassis. Ill try get some pictures before too long, the ocular is too big for my phone adapter lol.

I'm torn on this, LW. On the one hand, I want you to post a review of this scope so everyone knows how great they are (weight aside). On the other, I feel like the Forge line is my secret scope supply and I don't want the rest of the world to know about them until I've purchased like, 3 more. I already regret not buying 2 more of the 1-8s.

Went to lookie and apparently that's another that Bushnell has discontinued.
IMHO they do that with a lot of really good scopes.
I've got a 3-12 and a 6-24 Engage that I got on clearance that are really nice.

Just like the old Elite 4200 and 4500 scopes. I love my Elite 4500 6024 MIL-DOT for how they reticle is calibrated. The reticle is set for 1 MOA at 12X, 2 MOA at 6X and 1/2 MOA at 24X. That makes doing math so much easier for me.

Well it does say on the box that they are rated for 50BMG.
Thats what i said! Dell said its gonna die.....so we have a challenge!
We will have to watch the rings. Its in Riton/contessa steel rings which are hell for stout, but im not sure the bands will provide the kind of holding well need for that heavy scope.

I was about to say Bushnell has an annoying habit if that.....but i realized that i normally buy scopes on close out, so......yeah....that ones on me 😂

I may have Dell order one more of these for me just because the glass is really nice for the cost.

As to a review....All i can do at this point is to just give my opinions on it in comparison to the others simply because i dont have a gun for it to ride on.

Glass is good/very good for the 500 dollar range. Its clearer and/or brighter than most of the others. The resolution is about on par with the Ep5 if not a little better.
I did notice that looking at the little green treatment tag on one of the 2x4s across the street, the brighter colored tag was easier to define with the slightly less bright EP and Ares.
You could tell where the rips were with the Forge, but the the contrast was a little clearer with the others.

Adjustments work properly, but there is a little grit in the power and focus rings.
Turrets are in .5 cm increments, pop up to adjust down to lock, and feel quite good. Again i prefer the wider distance between clicks on some of the others.
What tracking tests I could do showed that it tracks well.

Weights 34oz or so....not the heaviest scope in my stable, but pretty close.

Just taken thru the scope sitting on a rest no adapter so standard camera was used.

Funny one of the common killer for scopes is it just rolling off a rest on to the bench, that little fall and Abrupt stop is very hard on them. Never cared for the "50 cal" rating recoil is all over the place but most don't recoil much at all with the breaks on. More scopes have been killed in them from derby hitting the scope then recoil. Put it on a 4-5 pound gun that's 308win powder or more and see if it holds up. I'd bet those lead sleds guys use kill some scopes to.

I still haven't seen the newer Bushnell scopes in person, pretty much once gander mountain closed there's not many places here to look at scopes out of the box.

Oh it's the engage and iits $299 that 3-12 ar scopes looks pretty nice for $90.
Ive got a few of the 3-12 primes which are probably similar, and they are quite decent. Im using them as fillers and on my air rifle.

Oh the center dot on the forge is illuminated, goes from ok in the dark to daylight bright....ill try grab pictures after i tinker with my phone holder.

"Its not the fall that kills you, its the sudden stop at the end."
I think sudden acceleration and deceleration is more critical than peak velocity for those kinds things......and ......most of mine are drop tested.....not on purpose mind.

I did kill one by dropping it directly on the top.....on the edge of my gun case...with a 12lb rifle attached.....
