Well a big thanks to GHF and others from this thread:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=363564&highlight=airline

For the first time I transported a handgun via the airlines in checked baggage. I had to fly my plane out of state for its annual inspection and fly back home commercially. I followed the instructions GHF posted to the T and it worked out great. I flew Delta and the agent I got fortunately was a man in his mid to late 50's who wasn't some young, blissninny and acted business- like and professional. I indicated I had a firearm to declare and had the hard case, padlock and non-descript bag with ID tags. He did not react at all. I opened the case and showed the agent it was unloaded, put the tag they gave indicating it was an unloaded gun in the hard case with the gun. Closed everything up, checked the bag and left. I was worried they'd "loose" the bag as I had a connections. But low and behold it showed up, unharmed on the baggage carousel. I was very relieved. My beloved CZ-75D PCR is back home!

Thanks to THR for getting me through!
