Ok, so a day or so ago I walk into a local gunshop with my dad just pilfering around and window shopping. I made my way to the AR section and there lays my dream rifle, a standard A2. 20 inch barrel and full length handguard . You'll find im not like most kids my age who love the rails, lights, lasers, and anything with the word tactical on it. I like to keep it simple. It was an Armalite M-15 A2 with a price tag of $859 new. But right next to it was a Rock River standard A2 that I couldnt really tell much difference from just by looking. the tag price was $999 new. Ive read good stuff online about Rock River and dont know squat about about Armalite. Ive got just enough money saved up to get either one but I really would like to save the money if the Armalite is as good as the RRA. So is the Armalite a good buy or what? Im not going to be jumping from airplanes with the gun but I would like it to have long term reliability. Thanks,

I got several of both, like em both in AR10 and 15, just remember, AR stands for Armalite, not automtic rifle....then again Rock river makes some good arms I like.

The Armalite is a decent buy. And FWIW I would buy the Armalite over the RRA even if the Armalite cost more. RRA does some cosmetic things nice but they make construction choices I don't agree with, such as loctite on the buffer tube, or non-chrome-lined barrels on most models.

An Armalite for less than a RRA? That's a no-brainer.

Must have got it from a distributor on clearance or something. MSRP for an M15A2 is $1,150, and Armalite doesn't give a lot of wiggle room with their wholesale cost.

MSRP on the RRA is $980.

The Armalite is a higher quality gun with better customer support. It's also closer to Mil-Spec. Both have a lifetime warranty, though I don't know anyone who's had to use either.

I own 3 Armalites, and it wasn't a decision based on cost; I could have bought several makes for less. I paid $900 at 5% over dealer cost on my M15A2C back in 2006.

I've owned 2 Armalites and the only problem experienced was with punctured primers shooting Hornady ammo.

RRA was actually started by former Armalite employees if I remember correctly, so both tend to share a lot of the same processess and suppliers. I prefer Armalite between the two just because I've got a friend with an Armalite and it has really performed well over an extended period (did not like steel case ammo though). I doubt you'd be unhappy with either one though.

I decided to hold up on buying either one. Even though the standard A2 is my favorite type of AR15, I wasnt really looking for an AR15 when I bumped into these. I think I may just hang on and wait and get what I was looking for in the first place. Thanks for the feedback though it is sure gonna help me when I do decide to pick one up.
