MANATEE COUNTY - Armed robbers bound two children and six adults with duct tape as they ransacked a West Bradenton residence early Wednesday morning.

Three or four men pushed through the door of the home in the 1100 block of 36th Avenue West as two of the residents were leaving around 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The robbers taped up the adults and children, whose ages were not provided, and searched for valuables, according to a report.

A woman who was able to run out the back door before the robbers forced their way into the home called authorities, the report said.

Deputies arrived at the residence and saw at least two men escape through the back door of the house.

The residents were uninjured, and deputies found two firearms in the house apparently left by the robbers, according to a report.

No suspects were located, but a running blue Ford Contour was found two houses down containing a black glove, black shirt and a large hunting knife, deputies reported.

Authorities also notified the child abuse hot line because there were signs of drug activity in the victims’ residence, where the two children live.

I spent a lot of time in that city when I was younger.

I'm shocked :what:! Shocked I tell you.....

Anybody want to guess what the "valuables" that the house was ransacked for were?

You know you're a gun nut when:

reading that report, the first thing that came to mind was what type of guns do i now have courtesy of the robbers?!

I'm am glad to read know one was hurt. It just goes to show that crap can go down when you least expect it.

I realized I was a gun nut when every time I am talking to an officer about this or that situation I just have to know what type of gun and caliber was used. Yeah its an obsession, and so far a healthy one. :)

Their porcelain cat collection.

I would be willing to bet that many, if not most home invasions are druggies ripping off other druggies. If you don't engage in criminal activity yourself, you vastly reduce your chances of being a victim.
