Armored Vehicles? It's a shame that Michigan doesn't allow commoners to possess armored vehicles. As my daughter and I were driving back from the Cleveland Clinic today and what do we spot...a "tactical" vehicle. Let's keep it gun-related. Anyone heard how big of a bullet the B.M. can withstand? Here are some pics my daughter snapped:

We didn't see "The Dark Knight" himself. :(

Yes, but this is a "gun" board. I had to make it fit. :) So, it is armored. :) This was so cool. We have some video footage of it too. The video is extremely clear.

Wow! Extremely cool!
I wonder why they didn't have it covered? I'd think it would be quite a distraction out on the open road. I'm glad they did NOT have it covered. Maybe reason is making a come back.

This is the vehicle from The Dark Knight. There was a panel truck following it with TDK equipment, and a huge advertisement alerting that the movie opens the 18th.

My daughter had to snap some pictrues. The guys driving just smiled and waived to her. I suspect, because the trucks had Cali plates, that they were on some sort of a public-view tour so people would get excited about the opening.

Course, I wanted to drive it.

Dang, that's cool! I would have drove next to it for as long as i could. My sister used to work in Chicago right where they were filming a bunch of scenes and she has some pics of them. They would have two or three parked on the street in case they needed extras, I guess.

Simply due to extra-heavy traffic (an accident several miles ahead), we drove ahead of, beside, and behind the rig for literally an hour. My daughter was like a kid in a candy shop. She snapped about a dozen pictures and about 6 video clips. The video clips are really cool because you can pause it (full-length of the vehicle) and check out the details.

Dangit...

So those are the guys who stole my car....

ummm, wait, never mind... It's not mine, forget I said it....

I gotta get it into Maaco for a new paint job...

Nice!!!!

I've seen a .223 go through 1/4" steel plate so if the BM were a real vehicle it'd have to have what? like 1/2"+ plating?

Maybe more than that. We built some targets out of 1" steel to shoot at and 30-06 went straight through, as did .308

The shots were at 100 yards or so. We also shot one with a 12ga slug and the slug bounced off and ended up looking like a wrapped up hersheys kiss.

Man, I'd pay $10/gallon to drive that sucker, it's just too cool!

I, like ZombieHunter, cannot frickin' wait to see The Dark Knight. I was just talking with a friend the other day about how sad it was that Heath ledger died while making the film, but what an awesome final role it was for him.

Either way, thanks for the pics Doc. Very cool. :D

.

Saw the previews for a new movie called "Death Race" (a remake of the movie with David Carradine) this weekend, and it has a new Mustang with 3" of steel plating.

That thing would weight like 30 tons, lol.

Need new suspension I guess.

I can't wait to see this movie...

On a gun related note:
Armored vehicles pretty much rock. I've seen a .223 go through 1/4" steel plate so if the BM were a real vehicle it'd have to have what? like 1/2"+ plating?

The problem with this is that sometimes you go into a movie with too high of expectations, then your dissappointed.

That's what happened when we saw "Ironman".

For gun guys, this movie looks really good, lots of different guns in it:

all its missing is some .50 cal machine guns on the side.

Just to keep this gun related.

.50BMG AP would go through it I suppose.. but it's not a commercial airplane so no-one would shoot a BMG at it.

As an aside, I'd love to have a real armored car. The next tourist who cuts me off would realize why that's a bad idea. *joking*

Oh yeah, IBTL and all that

A friend was thinking of buying a "boat." The salesman told him the hull material was "bulletproof" and was stupid enough to give him a sample piece.

We figured we'd bounce a .22 LR off it for starters. Nope.

Went -right- through...

Hehe. .22LR has some suprisingly good penetration that you would not expect with such a small cartridge cartridge...

does MI actually have a law against armored vehicles for "civilians"? Not doubting you, just never heard it mentioned before, and I grew up in Saginaw, and lived in MI for my 1st 27 years, so I try to keep up a little. Seems like an odd, and pointless law if there is one (which doesnt make it not 100% true, especially coming from MI).
