Thanks for helping me choose a pistol, Roadites :)

Turners in LA has the Armscor 1911A1 EFS on for $350 this week. I've been saving for a SA, but other deals keep popping up and slowing me down.

The EFS has low profile combat sights, widened ejection port, skeletonized hammer and trigger, beaver tail grip safety, flat mainspring housing, ambi-safety, extended slide and magazine release, duel slide serrations and checkered wood grips. That's a lotta bells and whistles in a bargain package, and had me leery. But a search found plenty of happy owners of this Philippines pistol. I have high hopes it will be a fun range pistol while I continue to save for a SA. It may be awhile, I saw another cowboy action revolver that's calling to me. ;)

I'll post a range report after I cool off for ten days. Thanks again, THRers.

I saw one at a Houston Gun Show for $329, looked pretty good, was very tempting but I really don't need another 1911 right now, I was there to get CZ75B in .40S&W.

Let us know how you like it. I remember getting my first Norinco for $225 ~10 years ago and thinking it was too good a deal to be true -- but it wasn't! Got another a year later for $250 but it went away with the second wife :-(

The Amscor comes with very nice sights.

Dang Wally,

I miss Texas gun shows! This is my first 1911, sad to say. I'm very late to the party, heck, they got very expensive. Boy, I remember the $200 Norincos at those old shows. I was put off by the price, but you're not the only guy who seems to love theirs. Why I remember when M1As were $700 and the show isles were uphill both ways... um, I digress. :)

The aisles still are uphill both ways, or so it seems by the crowds :)

Don't know if the economy is picking up or people are preparing for the worst, but I never before had to stand in line to get a seat at the table to fill out the yellow form!
