Armscor 1911???

Hi yall....

I've been lookin through a few sites and noticed an Armscor Rock Island Full Size Parkerized 1911-A1. Is this gun any good since it's made in the Phillippines and has a relatively low price. I wouldnt use the gun for self defense, just for plinkin and maybe to shoot some close range hogs.

Has anybody had any experience with this product? How well built is it? How's it hold up?

I've got one, and it's the most accurate 1911 I own. It's very well made, especially for the price, and it shoots great. I'll probably buy a few more someday.

I love both my Rock Islands. (5" Tacticals .45). Shoots just as accurate as my Springfield.

I recently purchased a Officers/Rock Island Compact. Not 1 failuire so far. It is my new carry piece.

Finish is durable, not pretty. Well worth the money. Mine was $396 shipped including a 3% card charge. Check gunbroker seller: Bellshire Hardware

He has 2 more compacts left at this price if anyone is interested. When I received mine, it did not have standard GI sights as pictured and had checkered grips as well. The sights were cut for Novak

I just bought one at a local shop for a little more than the gunbroker deal, but I had it in my hands - a lot to be said for that in my book. I've fired about 75 rounds through it to date, and love it. It's my first handgun ever - always been a rifle kind of guy. At first I was apprehensive, buying a "cheap" 1911 when there were ones on the shelf that cost 3 or 4 times as much. I don't doubt my decision a bit now, though.

The Rock Island guns are great buys for the money. I have 2 of them and plan on getting more.

Funny thing about the Rock Islands, I love the word used "Cheap". In no way are they designed and or perform "Cheap". I shoot mine 3 times a week. Against Springfields, Kimbers and Colts. They perform flawlessly. (can't say that about the pistols i shoot against 2-3 times more expensive). My friends are still scratching thier heads. I'd rather use the term "Smart" purchase. I'm not sold about a less "value" built 1911 just because it's made in the Pillipines either. If anyone ever visited the Phillipines 1911's are in "EVERY" household. They know alot about them and thier proud of them. Also, and niether am i a metalurgist. I just think it's a myth on the steel issue. So in closing, get one, shoot it, keep it, and smile!

PS. Both of mine were purchased from Bellshire. Great people to deal with.

I have three, and they're not "cheap", they're "affordable"! Damn good pistols, IMO.
