It seems that every other time I do a search on a real weapon, or parts for said weapons I get a stupid air soft site.............

Sorry for the mini rant, but its starting to drive me nuts. Anyone else want to vent a little.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's sick and tired of airsoft crap being labeled as the real guns. Posers. Aaarrrgggghhh is right!!!

How about when looking at stuff on Ebay. I don't know if it's labeled for Airsoft to get around Ebay's no gun policy or because it really can't stand up to the recoil of a centerfire cartridge, especially for scopes and rings.

Am I the only gun nut who likes airsoft too?

I consider is a shooting sport like any other. It gets people interested in firearms.

As gun enthusiasts we should support airsoft.

I've never understood how people who enjoy shooting could not like airsoft. Personally, I enjoy all kinds of shooting. Pistol, rifle, shotgun, crossbow, air gun, airsoft gun... It's all shooting.

I hate to say it but in my opinion if it looks like a real gun it should be a real gun. Think of all the problem realistic fake guns present for the RKBA such as someone being shot holding an airsoft gun to some dumb kid shooting his friend with what he thought was a toy. I "feel" airsoft, replica, and realistic looking guns have no positive place in society. Sorry that is my opinion and you know the sayings about opinions. My opinion may make me one but that is how I feel.

Nope, I keep one on my back patio and shoot it while i'm waiting on the dog to finish doing his business and chewing on sticks and tree bark. Hitting targets beyond 10 - 15 feet gets challenging as the low velocity plastic BBs have quite a curve in their flight pattern.

Can't say that I have had "search" problems, but I typically go directly to various "gun" sites versus doing Google searches.

Adding -airsoft also works for Youtube if you're looking for gun review videos etc.

I like the idea of airsoft guns, but it seems that the quality ones are above $150, which is too much for me to pay.

I had a "search" problem with airsoft at a gun show in Virginia back in the spring of 2004. I saw a stand of awesome-looking military-pattern weapons (which were banned from manufacture at the time) and hurried over to consider a purchase. There were MP5s, M4s, AKs, various handguns... my buddy and I picked them up and instantly knew something was wrong. They looked real, and felt real, and already had cartridges loaded into clear polymer magazines...? They also had some seams, pins, markings, etc in odd places. We thought, "what the heck is all this?" The rep came over and told us what airsoft was (it must have been fairly new at the time) and we quickly left - disappointed. Several minutes later I bought a PTR-91 from a real gun dealer.

The airsoft guns have not caused me much issue (and at least they are used by some very serious training schools).

What I have done numrous time is looking for gun specs online and discovering I'm on some kind of computer game website-"Oh theres the new Army rifle I've been hearing about... hey that does not seem right....why are they saying it is higly effective versus giant insectoids and why is the next section about plasma blaster in the 40 watt range..."

Not the only one. Plastic crack it is.

Plus, give me a good sharp knife and some metal snipping type scissors, a little adhesive putty or cardboard and tape, and I start custom building guns I want - like the Jericho 941.

Airsoft can be an excellent training tool since your buddies can shoot back and force you to move and improve your tactics.

Airsoft can also be cheaper than shooting .22s and you could learn more from it than just square range training.

For some models it drives me nuts. If you google "Sig P228," you'll get a TON of hits that are all airsoft models, because Sig makes those, too, and uses the same model numbers as their actual firearms.

I used an airsoft pistol to teach my wife the basics in our home before our first trip to the range. Airsoft can be a good thing. I am not a fan of all the tactical airsoft nonsense on the internet and it could be bad if some kid spends his teenage years drooling over airsoft then finally gets a real gun and doesn't respect it like he should, but I have an airsoft gun and think it makes a great training tool.

Please don't turn this thread into an airsoft home defense discussion!!

I hope no one minds that I'm going to let out Conan the Grammarian, but I have a question that's been bugging me for awhile now.

Why do people do this?

ARRRRGHHH→,,,,,← airsoft!

I can understand why people use multiple exclamation points. I can understand why people use multiple question marks. I can even understand the misuse of ellipsis to denote an unfinished or incomplete thought in the informal atmosphere of online discussions.

But I cannot for the life of me fathom why there are people who insist on speed-bagging the comma key. Not only is it grammatically incorrect, it doesn't even have any immediately discernible impact on the tone of the post.

Perhaps it's the lack of morning coffee. Perhaps it's because I've just seen this particular grammatical mistake one-to-many times. Either way, everyone who's ever done it needs to stop doing it because it's completely wrong.

Justin, I've had the same conversation with my dad, who is "new" to computers.

He blames it on bad eyesight or tremors, depending on the day!

I think I should clarify my "AAAARRRGGHH." While I do see airsoft as a great training tool, (which I have used myself), my AAARRRGGGHH was for all the kids posing as bad@$$'s with their non-weapons that resemble the real thing.

With the exception of holster training (in relation to force on force training), I see no need for air soft to be exact replicas of real guns.

The reasoning behind airsoft looking like real firearms was rooted in Japan, where firearm ownership is illegal. The people wanted to have as close to a firearms experience as possible, without the legal hassles.

Thus a visual, tactile, and weight realistic replica, that happens to use air pressure (either piston driven or CO2 whippet driven) shoot 6mm plastic BBs for projectiles.

Some of them go so far as to have blowback action. There's even an MP5 replica that has blowback...the bolt flys open with every shot.....14 times per second, just like the real deal.

Well from there came "sport" airsoft...which is basically using airsoft for paintball. Fun times, I love it...I have a modified electric USP that I've been using for a few years, and the experience is imposiible to replicate with anything else in my opinion.

It can make a good training tool if used in SD training since they are non-lethal, but you WILL know if you get hit, and you get to practice with something very similar to what you may be carrying.

As for the tacti-cool airsofters...some are, some aren't. Some folks like the tac-gear for practical reasons (usually magazine access). Others want to look like they're military....to me, that's just silly....play the freakin game.

I really have no beef with the air soft guns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just was getting a bit miffed while searching the net for info, or a part for a real weapon, and getting an air soft site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
