I have ordered an Arsenal SAM-7-13 Rifle from K-Var, which should arrive tomorrow. I have very little AK experience, so here are some questions I need help with :
1. What magazines to use & where do I get them.
2. Will any upgrade to the sights be needed (night sights?) ?
3. Should I use a recoil buffer? Which brand?
4. Are there any special tools I should get ( I do have a Front Sight Adjustment Tool) ?
5. Anything else I should consider?

Thanks for your help & advice!

Magazines? Get as many of the Bulgarian circle 10 "waffle" as you can afford. They are the best I've found. I imagine lots of the com-bloc metal mags work well too. Congrats on your Arsenal. I have a Milled SAS M-7 underfolder and it has been 100% in every way. Sights are standard ak, no upgrades are NECESSARY. Buy lots of ammo and enjoy the heck out of it. My sights were dead on out of the box so even a sight tool was unecessary for me. Enjoy!

Congrats on the Arsenal. I have an SGL-20, and never regretted getting it - people can debate the cost/value thing till the cows come home, but it's a quality product all the way.
+1 on the Circle 10's, they're really good (maybe the best), but I have some generic com-bloc metal ones that work fine, and some Hungarian 20-round mags that are also pretty good (and better for prone). What's even sweeter is when you can get them for dirt cheap at Aim Surplus. This page has Bulgy polymers at $5.95 and steels at $8.95 (http://www.aimsurplus.com/catalog.aspx?groupid=15).
You can get a side-mount adaptor and stick on any kind of sights you want, but I keep coming back to the irons (which I might upgrade to a Krebs aperture, but who knows?).
I don't think you'll need a recoil buffer, although if you're used to an AR or a 10 22, you might feel some kick. On the other hand, put a few 3" shells through an 870, and it'll feel like butter. :)
I'd recommend putting any extra $ into ammo, and shoot as much of it as possible.
Good luck!
