That's half the problem, Most people bash them and think they are trash. When they really are pretty decent.

Yes, and in the end, how people spend their money is one of the biggest indicators of how much they like something. SKS are pretty regularly being sold near the AK/AR prices, so there are some people who clearly value you them as much as those firearms, for whatever collection of reasons.

I think I have had most every version of the SKS readily available except for the ultra rare versions. The Russians were by far the best but the Norincos were the better bargain. I first started buying them in the 1980s when they were less than a saw buck and ammo was around a $100 or less for a 1000 round case. The only reason I bought this last one was because I had a case o ammo and nothing to shoot it in.
do you have this Norinco? it was factory converted to use AK mags. has the shorter Para barrel 004.JPG

the SKS is built like an anti tank rifle and I say the most reliable semi auto ever made. when I want to walk in the woods and shoot at distant rock cliffs I take that rifle. I have the most fun with it

My brother-in-law had one in the 90's. Ran great according to him.

He got bored with it though, getting into AR's instead, so he sold it.
they were banned shortly after norinco brought them here. mine has a low serial number. I do not know how you can get bored with it. I guess if you want to target shoot with it

Well, my brother in law is finicky when it comes to firearms. Purged all his "cheap imports" and filled his safe with the spendy kind some time ago.

To each their own I suppose.
