Anybody have much experience with these? How is the quality? Comparable to Glock factory mags? Are they reliable? The prices are good and i'd like to lay in a few as backup mags, but if they aren't reliable I'm not interested. Thanks.

The KCI ones I had a few of in 9mm/19 size, used them with my Glock 23 and 27, just the 40-9 barrel and mags, worked beautifully. No issues at all.

The feed lips do feel a little sharper than the factory ones, but it only affects your thumb, not functionality.

They are hit or miss. Some people have issues, others don't. Most eventually have issues sooner or later. I wanted to use them for carry if push came to shove, but then I started having problems with them after just a few hundred rounds. I don't think the springs are up to snuff. The mag bodies are fine though, so if you eventually replace the springs they should be just like factory mags. In any case they make fair range mags.

My opinion though is that Glock mags are pretty dang cheap at $20 a pop, so there is no reason not to buy factory mags.

I bought 6 KCI mags when they were selling for 5 bucks each. I swapped the springs with cheapest replacements I could find ($4.00 LWD springs). So they're still about half the price of factory mags.

Aside from crappy springs, the only difference that I can see is the KCI mags are slightly shorter than current production G19 mags. When you seat the mag, the floorplate is flush with the grip. Current G19 mags leave a gap. Calipers confirm the difference is over a tenth of an inch. This makes it a lot harder to get the last round in. I have strong thumbs, and I can barely do it. I imagine many people wouldn't be able to do it without the Glock mag loader (and loaders like the Uplula won't fit the last round). And with the last round loaded, the mag is slightly harder to seat in the gun when the slide is closed.

The KCI G17 mags don't have that issue.

If I used my G19 for SD duty, I wouldn't care which mag was in there, Glock or KCI. The only time this gun has ever jammed on me was with the KCI mags with original springs, loaded with Bear laquer-coated ammo. And boy was that a jam-fest. But with the LW springs, they've been 100.00% with any ammo, same as the Glock mags.

I'd buy 'em again in a heartbeat, if I wanted to get 4 or more extra mags. But if you want just 1 or 2 extra, it won't save you much after you add the springs and the double shipping. Maybe you can find a store that sells both KCI mags and quality springs.

Thanks. I don't want to go thru the hassle of changing springs, so I'll probably just stick with factory Glock mags.

No issue with the 4 that I purchased for my G19. I'm actually going to buy 6 more.

As NG VI stated - functionally as good as the Glock factory mags but have sharper metal lips.

I have a lot of rounds through G17/G19 models, and have had no serious problems. Quality is lower than true Glock mags but seems good enough to work. I would use real Glock mags for SD but use KCI mags for practice and competition.

I have a few rounds through two of the KCI G22 (.40) mags, with worse experience. Those seem to cause jams that don't happen when using true Glock mags. I don't know if this is an issue of the caliber or just random luck of the draw.

My three KCI magazines are the ones that accompany my G17 Gen3 to the range. No problems with them at all, and I don't mind practicing emergency reloads with them since they're so inexpensive. My Glock OEM magazines are tested thoroughly and then stored for future use.

I just picked up 2 KCI G19 mags form CTD range use....they were $14.97 incl a double mag pouch. They seem to be decent quality so far.

I have a pair of the KCI G17 mags for my KelTec Sub-2000 rifle. They work fine. I had to take a razor blade and trim a bit of flash off to meet my personal QC standards but they are good to go.

The Kahn magazines I hear nothing good about.

Then there's Scherer which is US made but I would never spend a dime with them after their crappy G18 mag I had.

Forget all the "not quite as good" crap. Just change the springs and you'll never know the difference. (Esp in 40SW. Even the older factory Glock springs aren't strong enough in that caliber.) I don't separate my Glock mags from KCI. They're all used for range duty. They're all used for serious duty. They're all dropped and kicked around. They all work 100%. Since changing the springs a year ago, I have had exactly zero malfunctions with these mags through 1-2k rounds, and I've never cleaned them. Why would I trust an original Glock mag that sits on the sidelines over the mags I've shot thousands of rounds through?

I purchased three KCI Glock 17 magazines fromCDNN for $6 a piece. I only use them as training mags, lets call them T-1, T-2, and T-3.

T-1 displayed no problems til around the 500 round mark. At that point, T-1 started sticking in the mag well. It went from being drop free to non drop free. T-1 was taken out of the rotation after 1450 rounds. T-1 still functions and gets used for load development. T-1 was replaced by T-4 (Older generation Glock factory magazine, no round count recorded).

T-2 has 1530 rounds through it and is still going strong.

T-3 has 1344 rounds through and is also doing well.

I have noticed that the rounds in the magazine have a habit of not stacking properly when loading them. This really isnt a big deal, they have fed properly even with a bad stack. Other than that, nothing more to report.

Based just on my experience with the KCI mags, I would recommend them, but only for range use. Although they have not given me a reason to doubt their reliability, I will continue to use Glock factory magazines for carry. I am planning on getting more KCI mags in the future.

I've got 2 kahn mags for my Glock 17 and 2 for my G19, all have functioned 100%. The springs do seem a little weak though, I might replace them with some wolff springs later on. A couple of the magazines came assembled with the spring upside down. This caused the follower to pitch at an odd angle which interfered with the trigger bar. After a quick switch around it is fine. So i recommend taking them apart when you get them and make sure everything is put together right. The floor plates come off easier than glock factory mags. At half price this company has my business for extra glock mags.

Oh, and I have a couple G18 mags made by these guys and they are great too.

I bought one G19 mag from the LGS and a half dozen g17 mags from CDNN when they were $4.

The springs were significantly weaker on all of them. A glock relies upon spring pressure to eject empty cases. If you don't believe me have your friend shoot a glock with no mag, the empty case will drop out the bottom 80% of the time. The g19 mag was ok, the G17 mags had a stovepipe about every 100 rounds or so. It's fine for training-especially failure drills, but I wound up giving them all away so as not to confuse them with the real ones.

There is a member here, 5532JWK, that sells 5 real glock mags for $100 delivered. At those prices, I think its better to just get them, as opposed to worrying about training mags.

Never seen a locked breech service type autoloader with an extractor and ejector that relied on something other than the recoil forces and the two built-in partsmade specifically for that to eject cases.

He's right. The Glock extractor doesn't grip the cases, firmly. By design, there's a bit of a gap. During extraction, the case can fall down and hit the ejector at the wrong angle, especially if the mag is not inserted. That's why the Glock ejects cases seemingly at random angles. I, too, have noticed that when the mag is not inserted, sometimes the case fails to eject or ejects weakly. The 9mm is the worst offender. Actually, my G21 throws 'em in something resembling a pile. The looseness in the extractor is a compromise that increases feed reliability, and no doubt it is a factor that adds to the limpwrist phenomenon.
