Ever heard of the 21-foot rule? It would have taken no more than 5 or 6 brave souls all rushing the shooter from as many different directions to wrestle him to the floor and stop the shooting. Two or three may have taken a round in the process, but they could have stopped him.
The problem here was not that everyone was unarmed or that the shooter was armored--the problem was that everybody ran the wrong way.I agree with you. The mass shooting where the perp is close to targets begs for a mass rushing. We all think of 'what if scenarios', and what we would do. I often carry while sitting in church because I have always thought that is a perfect place for some wackjob/terrorist to kill a lot of people. In my scenario I put the wifes bible against my chest and rush the guy shooting as I go. Even if he hits me The odds are in my favor that it would be survivable. Most of these punks would crap their pants if someone rushed them and their fire would more than likely be erratic. If not then you are probably screwed anyway. I think this would keep the number of injured people to a minimum. The latter all presupposes I would not be paralized with fear and running for my life. My ultimate goal in said scenario would be a shot up against the perps body. The video games that so many young people play are not helping this problem.
