Here are some pictures of a neat Spanish Astra Model 960 .38 special revolver! it is of very high quality. This particular revolver was not imported into this Country. Instead, it was carried here by it's original owner from Spain-thus, it wasn't stamped with any import markings! Except for some holster wear on the barrel, this gun was not fired much and evidently was mostly carried! At the time the model 960 was produced primarily for Police usage around the world, although the Model 960 .38 was not allowed to be imported to the U.S.A., this same revolver chamber in the .357 magnum caliber(The Astra Model 357)was permitted to be imported here!
Although the Model 960 .38 looks similar to an Smith & Wesson Model 19, actually, it is built on the larger, Smith & Wesson N-frame size! Take note of the picture below showing the unique hammer strut spring tension adjustment ring! This ring has four different depth holes drilled into it which gives you four different spring tensions, just by slipping this ring out of the grip frame and reinstalling the hammer strut into one of these four holes! A very neat idea!
